I could be reading to much into this

But Reich in specific mentioned

“offense look like Philly”

and

”dual threat like Hurts”

additional here recently.

Joe Person hinted at who we’re going after at OC in Brian Johnson out of Philly.

Johnson coached Richardson in Florida.

lastly.  Daniel Jeremiah is one of the most clued in guys in what’s going on in league circles in around draft season.  Jeremiah now has Richardson his 13th OVERALL prospect in this draft

Richardson is not Hurts. Hurts was actually a good QB in college with a label placed on him. He was good enough to be a top 5 pick.

Stats wise.  But no one had a 1st rd grade on him like ARich.  Anthony is a bit more raw but has a lot more tools.  And who knows what he would look like throwing to 4 future top 20 picks in that offense or the Oklahoma Lincoln Riley offense which is notorious for making QBs shine.

Hurts looked like a guy who needed a position change at Bama. It's hard to judge Lincoln Riley QBs. Everyone he puts on the field puts up video game stats in Heisman worthy campaigns.

Only thing I disagree with is Teddy arm, I think that's being EXTREMELY generous to Teddy's arm. He's pretty similar to Burrow in my eyes arm wise who doesn't have top league arm strength but can make the throws but his bread and butter is short and mid range accuracy.

I honestly think that Georgia game watching him work off script answered some of my bigger questions in regards to only being able to work in the system, while yes I think you want them to work in the system he struggled previously when things broke down. In the Georgia game he generally made positives out of that other than a few specific plays I can remember and doing that against that defense is a pretty big step in the right direction for me.

I do think that Georgia game is blinding people from some of his obvious flaws though and I think those are the reason he very easily could be the third QB taken. I'd still be very happy to take him as I think he is the safest QB to take in the first and I think a lot of his issues Reich can help him work through.

Honestly, I think Georgia was off. I don't believe that Stroud would fare so well if he had to play them again. That being said, he had a great game---probably his best ever.

Honestly I just think they faced someone with enough talent to finally challenge them where they were weak. They are notorious for refusing to change what they do for any team because their mentality is that they are going to force others out of their comfort zone by shear talent and will. I think their game vs Tennessee and TCU really demonstrated that.

Ohio State had enough receiver talent and a good enough oline to neutralize what they love to do and challenge their secondary. Stroud had to be on to do it but you could tell they weren’t used to getting pushed like that.

I think Georgias defense is good enough on an off day to be a significant challenge though so I don’t think it’s fair to discount what Stroud was able to do necessarily, but I don’t think it washes away all question marks or anything.

People put way too much emphasis on the team outcome when looking at prospects. Mahomes was 16-21 during his college career.

Nothing I wrote was about the team… it was all about stroud? What are you referring to that led you to believe I was speaking to the Buckeyes?

As Gil Brandt said ‘if you don’t have a Qb, you have no chance’

Every team has a QB. I suppose he is saying go draft one of the hot names. Out of the four guys in the NFL Championship round: Burrow #1, Mahomes #10, Jalen Hurts #53, and Brock Purdy #262.  If you see a Burrow (or a Lawrence or a Luck), go get him. If not, don't mortgage your future.  So three of four we could have had w/ pick #9.

Trading up to #3 isn't going to be enough. We need to move all the way up to #1 to ensure we have our pick of QBs.

The Texans are sitting pretty at #2; they're guaranteed Young or Stroud. The Colts are going to be gunning for #1 and have a higher pick than us to begin with. That's our primary competition.

It's a given then that this year's 1st + 2024's 1st are going to be part of any trade; likely 2025's 1st as well. Beyond that we may need to give them our late 2nd this year and possibly our 3rd as well.

That's a LOT to give up, but I think it's necessary. At this point we're stuck in no man's land without a QB to the point that nothing else really matters until we find our guy.

If Tepper/Fitterer we're willing to give up the farm for damaged goods in Deshaun Watson then surely they're willing to give up a similar deal to secure a young franchise QB at #1 overall.

Yes. Same story every year.  Go back and look who could have been drafted had fox drafted one when he knew jake’s elbow was shot…the QBs that fox passed on…god almighty   Same when Rivera knew Newton’s shoulder was done

I have faith that under Reich  there will be no drafting a rb or qb, when it is a qb and decent backup needed in that an room

the colts were a mess under that owner and GM   It will be different here

over the years of failure by the Panthers, not having a qb is the common denominator

teams with sustained excellence had one

Texans have the draft capital to move from #2 to #1 if they have a preference between Stroud and Young, if Chicago did move back to #2, they could once again have the Colts or us going for a 2nd trade. Assuming they ultimately want Jalen Carter or Will Anderson I don't know if they'd wanna move back to 9.

    • Idk man, I think it’s necessary.  There’s people working 9-5s everyday that get told poo about what they aren’t and what they’re not capable of and they’re working for scraps.  These guys are making millions.  People are watching and invested because their team and fandom is a part of their identity and a big source of pride.  When someone like Bryce comes in and is given chance after chance after chance after proving he is not worthy of the position he’s being gifted, and he continues to be the biggest reason above any that we are losing, yeah…  I think it’s fair to call a spade a spade.  Am I saying Bryce the person is trash?  Bryce the person is a piece of poo?  Absolutely not.     I came up in an era, especially in basketball, where if you were fuging up people heckled the poo out of you.  I played in rec leagues as a teen where the fuging parents were calling kids trash and yelling poo like “TURNOVER!!!  TURNOVER!!!”  “CANT DRIBBLE!”  “CANT SHOOT!”  And that’s adults screaming that poo to kids like we were in the fuging Rucker lol.🤣🤣🤣  I went on to play basketball at a collegiate level and with professional players in different settings.  What those experiences as a kid taught me was to see if there is any merit to what people are saying, and if there is, then work my ass off til they can’t say that anymore.  Come back better, tougher, harder.  And I did.  If kids can figure that poo out, an adult calling another adult who is bad at his job while making millions and millions of dollars will be just fine.
    • I have tried to like this team, lord knows I have tried. BY9 is a nice young man, if I had a daughter he can take her to prom, but he ain't QB1 and he's not Cam or Delhomme Chuba is a average RB, he isn't Stephen Davis, he isn't J-Stew McMillan has the makings of a good WR, but he isn't 89/Moose D. Brown is a great player, but if the game was on the line I want Kris Jenkins       I miss this brand of football, even in the bad Jake games the games were entertaining It has been nearly 8 years now of watching numb football
    • I'm not so sure. Something about the whole Frank/Bryce situation seemed off from day 1. Bryce didn't fit Frank's QB mold as well as Stroud, then he basically gives up when Bryce is named starter in preseason but gets virtually no reps in games. Then he looks completely unprepared and Dalton steps in in Seattle, has a decent game under immense pressure, and it's right back to Bryce. All his mechanics are terrible and he's having the worst rookie season ever and Frank doesn't bench him?  You dont have to be a conspiracy theorist to know Bryce wasn't ready to be a day 1 starter. Everything with Bryce, then coaches, and the FO seemed forced.
