If Burns is traded, it’ll be part of a package to move up for a QB, and only then if it’s the only way the deal will be sealed. He’s too important and good to just trade for picks, as they’ve already shown.

This. Fitts turned down the best picks package we were gonna get for him. If he's moved at this point it's to go get a QB.

I like Burns but sometimes I wonder because  he gets missing. Look at Reddick, he  seems to always be hitting home. Barno showed potential  that last game but I wonder what the new DC thinks. Denver lost Von Miller and traded Chubb and still found a way to get home. I wonder are they thinking about every scenario. If Scott says in on Every deal .... and we traded McCaffrey, then anything is possible.  They may think they can get someone like Yannick for half the price.

Burns is 11th in sacks and 13th in forced fumbles. He’s only 24 years old and anyone who has more sacks than him is also older.

Once we turned down the rams offer (reportedly 2 first and a 2nd), we made the conscious decision that he’s not going anywhere.

He’s more valuable than given credit for and and has played 62 out of 63 possible games.

he is a total liability in the run game and never takes over a game like an elite pass rusher should

While we’re on the subject, D.J Moore is underrated as well. He’s also 11th in receiving yards since joining the league and 6th among all non running backs in yard from scrimmage in that time.

He’s never missed a game and is also younger than anyone ahead of him on the receiving yards or yards from scrimmage (non running backs) list since he joined the league.

Burns (24), Moore (25), Icky(22)Horn (23),Brown (25). Are our top 5 core players that can be around and productive for us several seasons to come. Granted they are our last 5 first rounders. McCaffey rounded out are last 6 1st rounders.

They are perhaps the best 5 first rounders we have drafted consecutively since 02-06

(Peppers,Gross, Gamble, Thomas Davis and Deangelo Williams).

I really hope Burns gets traded so I can hear 95% whine and complain when we have literally ZERO pass rush and he balls out with another end across from him. Ppl around here act like it's so easy to find pass rushers in the NFL, it's not Madden huddlers yeesh

#feeltheburns

I think Burns is a great young edge rusher, especially with our new DC and possibly a 3-4 defense. However if we can use him to land a potential franchise QB right before he is owed a bunch of money, it might be worth it. Use the money we save to sign a vet pass rusher like Reddick or Ngakoue so our pass rush isn’t complete poo and we might be ok.

    • I know it's only been training camp and one preseason game, but I think T-Mac has already shown his floor to be exactly what I said about him in the pre-draft process. That his floor if he never improves his game, is as one of the best #2 WRs in the NFL, if not even still a low end #1 (i.e. a 25th-ish best WR in the league). I think it's safe to say he's already established himself as our #1, and there are only a small handful of teams in the league where I don't think he'd be their starting #2 WR in Week 1. Bengals (Higgins), Dolphins (Waddle), Eagles (Smith), Bucs (Godwin if healthy), Rams (Adams) are really the only teams where I think he'd be the #3 as a rookie in Week 1.  A few others like the Lions (Williams), Bears (Odunze), Seahawks (Kupp), Commanders (Deebo), where he'd be the 2b to start the season, just because they're vets and/or already have a year or two of experience with their team/QB. And even having said that, I think by year 2, he's better than every one of those players (And no, I'm not saying he's already going to be better than a prime version of Adams, just whatever he'll be at 33 next year), and same goes for Kupp, but that's more because it seems like his body might be quitting on him in a way that hasn't happened to Adams (yet).
    • Well to be fair, Horn not practicing right now to let his stitches heal up from a car accident isn't something that should be concerning.  Sure, you don't want him missing practice leading into the season, but it's one that once healed, won't have lingering affects or fear of re-injuring it, it was just bad luck.
    • Quality backups are absolutely important. This franchise has been plagued with depth problems. That said, there is a little bit of dismay that Mays can't beat out a 1-legged man, and all the talk going into the off-season was how BC would certainly be gone since he had position versatility.  In the end, it doesn't matter too awfully much, as I would be shocked to no end if Corbett makes it through the season. We know what we have in reserve, and that should surely be better than trying to sign random fat guys mid season to try and take over.
