How do you rank these QB’s that are 26 or younger

I’ve included the top 2 consensus rookies to see where you think they fit in as well.

 Joe Burrow

 Josh Allen

 Justin Herbert

Tua Tagovaiola

Jalen Hurts

Trevor Lawrence

Lamar Jackson

C.J Stroud

Bryce Young

  • Burrow
  • Allen
  • Herbert
  • Hurts
  • Jackson
  • Lawrence
  • Tua
  • Young
  • Stroud

Allen, Herbert and Hurts are pretty interchangeable in that clump, currently ranked by consistency/current body of work.

Jackson would be higher if he stayed healthy the past two seasons but he is below that initial clump of 4 due to injury concerns. Lawrence had a great year, but it has only been one great year, and even though Jackson was injured, he's still a former MVP and a stud when healthy. Tua looked great this year with a competent HC and OC but also his brain got scrambled a lot. Too small a sample size of great QB play to list him above anyone else at this point.

Young and Stroud are at the bottom because they've never played in the NFL before.

Almost that same order, but move Hurts above Tua and Young above Stroud.

I assume you mean in the sense of who would you rather build a team around as opposed to who is better right now, otherwise undrafted QBs would have to be last.

I’d go:

Allen

Burrow

Herbert

Lawrence

Hurts

Stroud

Young

Jackson

Tua

if I’m projecting out a couple years, I’d put Stroud between Burrow and Herbert and Young between Jackson and Hurts. If I’m projecting full career, Stroud at the top, Young between Herbert and Jackson

And you have absolutely nothing solid to back up those projections.

  • Joe Burrow (best QB in the game not named Mahommes)
  • Jalen Hurts (hard to separate if it's him or the team, but he was composed and productive the whole post season)
  • Trevor Lawrence (projecting, but showed that he can bring a team back from the brink)
  • Josh Allen (looks good in the regular season, but seems to panic in crunch time)
  • Lamar Jackson (don't think he is an elite passer and his rushing skills will only continue to degrade)
  • Justin Herbert (probably good, hard to know if he's being held back by his coaching)
  • Bryce Young (unknown commodity, draft grades suggest he'll be pretty good)
  • C.J Stroud (unknown commodity, I'd probably only choose him over Tua on this list)
  • Tua Tagovaiola (decent in an offense designed to make QBs look good, will be out of the league before he's 30)

I don't know about a specific ranking of these guys but I think Lawrence is going to take massive strides as he gets some legit weapons and have a similar early career arc to Peyton Manning. Not quite to Peyton's level of all time great, but to being the best of this bunch of QBs.

All of these guys have things I like about them and things I question.

Herbert has the tools and has shown some seriously elite throwing ability, but he's trended downward (decent weapons not amazing and doesn't seem like coaching is helping him any).

Burrow is great but aided a ton by his elite receivers and solid coaching.

Allen puts the team on his back a bit more than these others but he's still pretty inconsistent, some weeks looking like the best QB in the game and other weeks looking like a scrub who shouldn't even be starting. His play style also worries me like Cam's did.

Lamar is electric as a runner and a solid passer but big injury concerns and how good of a passer he really is can only be determined when he gets some weapons and a coaching staff that knows how to run a passing offense.

Hurts was amazing this year but also aided by elite weapons and coaching, not sure how much of it is him and not sure how long he can hold up running like that.

Tua -- concussions a big concern now and before this year he wasn't very good. Had a very solid season but with elite weapons and in a well coached passing offense.

I would gladly take any of them compared to what we've had since Cam's health fell apart, but Lawrence would be my #1 choice, probably with Herbert 2nd then Burrow/Allen. Lamar/Hurts/Tua in a lower tier.

Can't even begin to compare any of them to Stroud/Young without those guys having played in the NFL yet. I would easily pick any of the established guys over these 2 (not taking into account a theoretical acquisition cost/contract. If taking that into account I prefer to trade up for a QB than trade for Lamar and give him a massive contract. The other guys surely aren't available anyways). I take Stroud over Young but would be thrilled to get either this draft.

No one has anything solid to back up any such projections. I’m just thinking of how they each looked in college and how I thought that would translate to the NFL. For example, I was very high on Josh Allen when he was in the draft but we didn’t need a QB at that time.   Stroud has shown far more than any of these guys did in college except maybe Burrow, and Stroud still has the advantage over Burrow in the touch and accuracy.
