Carr’s destination betting odds

A big part of me thinks this is Carolina  returning the favor that happened with them coming in and driving up the Watson stuff.  I'm pretty sure  the more we drive his price up, the less the Saints have to spend. Who knows but interested to see how this shakes out.

With a Carr and this staff, I could see us drafting next year in the 16-24 range. Or we better be if we are dropping $40 million on a QB.

Anyway, how are we getting from 16+ to #1 overall? Especially when 9x out of 10 the #1 pick needs a QB and ain't budging.

If we are drafting a QB, if we want to trade up and want our pick of the class, this is the only year to do that. Otherwise we are moving up to 8-10 to grab someone that falls. I really, really do not see us picking in the top 10 next year.

Wait why do we have to get to #1

And I’d bet Tampa ends up with that #1 pick and Caleb Williams next year. They’re going to be bad.

I don’t want Carr at all. Would rather go draft, but if the panthers bring him in, I hope it works. I doubt it, though.

I hear two qb names over and over here for next year. If they maintain their trajectory they aren't falling to 8 or 10. And if we are taking the 3rd or 4th qb next year, and trading up to do so ?? I think I'd rather go to 1 this year. Seems asinine if that is what people are thinking.

Agree. If Reich ends up being the guy, Carr would be our Alex Smith. 3 years or so to right the ship and then we make a big reach for a QB down the road.

Yup, and iirc, off the top of my head, I think Smith was only the starter in KC for a year or two prior to them drafting Mahomes and then started Mahomes' rookie season and then was traded.  And all due respect to Smith, but I think Carr is a much more complete QB and a lot more dynamic than Smith was.  It would be the ideal scenario, imo.

This is not a positive breakdown of his last game. Seems like he's regressed to basically Sam/Baker quality. Bad footwork, panic throws, check downs when he should be taking shots down field..We've had enough of that the last couple years

Yeah, but I just don't know what all tou can take from last season for him...  McDaniels is a poo coach, the organization is dysfunctional, and he has how many years of good tape before last season's debacle?  I don't think a QB just falls off a cliff like that at 32 barring injury.

I can't believe the amount of people who actually want to sign him.

Like what happened to the franchise QB talk for the last 3 years...

Im seeing people say they rather have a 32 year old Derek Carr over a 26 year old former MVP candidate Lamar Jackson.lmao

Baltimore were playing with house money with Lamar on a rookie deal. Going forward not so much I honestly believe Carr has a better chance at winning a ring

If we go this route, our #9 pick needs to be the best WR on the board.

There’s no WR worth the 9th pick. JSN is probably the best in the class and will go late first bc he’s not fast.

oh and carr sucks. What the fug is wrong with this fanbase.

“He’ll be the most talented QB we’ve had since Cam”.  Just like Baker was and we know how well that went.

I want the team to be better and Carr probably makes the team better so the exercise of considering the option is being thorough.  That said, I don’t think I’d be happy for settling for that if there are other options available thru the draft.

Personally, this would be way down the list for me in terms of trying to fix the QB dilemma.

This is something people can’t wrap their head around.

Drake and Caleb are going 1 and 2.  If you don’t have those picks.  Your not getting them.  As Daniel Jeremiah said.  Even if you have pick 3.  Teams aren’t trading out to 3 off those guys.  So pretty much tough luck.

And outside those 2 guys.  Next years QB class is uncertain.  The next guy up isn’t even getting the hype of Bryce, Stroud, ARich, etc this time last year.  So we going to do this again talking is it worth it to move up from 20.  Trading 3 1sts for Spencer Rattler?

Penix may be better than anyone in this class. After that who knows.

Penix is decent.  But I wouldn’t say his upside is better than these guys.  And the jury is still out on him.  This was his 1 healthy season in like 5 years (this was the first time he’s played more than 6 games in 5 seasons due to Injuries)

He’s had 2 torn ACL’s and a few other injuries as well already. We

    • When I arrived at college, I was 18, not too much younger than some of these draft picks.  It was not a huge school, but there were guys on the team who were 21, 22, 23....playing ahead of me.  I was seventh on the depth chart.  Those guys have been through a few seasons, were stronger, more knowledgeable.  I was a better raw player than some of them, but those other factors matter.  As I grew stronger, more familiar with the playbook, and learned what it was like to play in college, I gradually improved and with that, I rose up the depth chart.  It took most of my freshman year for the light to come on.  Had the coach thrown me into the starting lineup day 1, I would have probably failed.    And that was college.  So I agree with you based on my experience on a much lower level.  Frankly, I think that is why so many kids drafted to fill huge gaps bust.  The teams are desperate.  Anyone who looks to fill vacancies in the starting lineup through the draft is desperate.  You draft depth to develop.  For this reason, I say, "Let Walker start for a while."  Maybe Brazzell can be our WR 4.  Throw Hunter into a rotation and ask him to do one or two things.  Freeling needs some strength and he needs to work on run blocking.
    • I see Bryce's development this way: He improved when his supporting cast improved.  TMac and Dowdle saved his arse last year, but in fairness, most good QBs have good WRs and good RBs--and good OLs.   The 2025 OL underperformed, actually. They were above average, but they should have been elite if you consider the salary cap.   As soon as we signed Lewis and Hunt, I started thinking, "That's not sustainable.  With Ickey about to get paid a LT salary, Moton and Hunt grabbling $50m per season combined, and Lewis around $17m--that would be nearly $100m and the Center just walked.  Yikes.  What does that mean?  Rico walks, Mays walks, and we do not have a top 5 WR on a second contract.  We do not have an elite TE, and only 1 is on a modest second contract. And now Bryce will demand $50m for his incremental rise to mediocrity?   So when we sign Bryce, we will get weaker at other positions.  Hunt, Moton, maybe Ickey and Lewis, will all be casualties--that is the right move regardless (not sure yet about Ickey, but he was not elite) Bryce is one lucky, entitled camper.  No competition since being drafted, and he lost his job for a while to the aging clipboard holder.  Now we are bringing in UDFAs and busts to compete with him.
    • Probably not.  If we are taking a QB, it would be a prospect to replace Bryce and not a flyer type player.  I can't say for sure, but I doubt he would have cracked the top 3-4 QBs even if he were to play this coming season.
