I am all in on drafting Richardson at 9 if we stay at 9. High upside develop him for a year or hell even let him get some playing time running rpos and such in packages. Sign a vet or even keep Darnold. Keep all those CMC picks and fill out the roster.

He's a complete projection, but so is every QB. With regards to your "Can he run it? Yep. Cool." btw - the only reason why Hurts is worth spit in the NFL is because he's a threat with his legs. 

But Hurts is a much, much better passer than AR. Look, if you can get the kid in the 3rd ... awesome. Using your first round pick on someone who is a massive project is insane. And where does this "most athletically gifted" BS come from? How can thay even be judged? The old eyeball test?

I like AR at 9 as well. We'd give up too much for Young/Stroud. And those guys are toothpicks.

I heard an analyst (can't remember who it was) say that when Hurts  (Allen too) came into the league he was a "bad passer." He said that if Hurts was in a boat in the middle of the ocean that he couldn't hit water his passing was so bad. Hurts' passing improved dramatically. I think it was Greeny who said that he'd never seen such dramatic improvement so quickly (and Greeny isn't the only one).  

Now I'm not saying AR will improve, but if our staff thinks that they can help him to improve, then they would have to consider him. If they actually do fix him, you get a "boom!" If they can't, well you know what it is...

Lottery mentality? Oh hell, no!

To be clear, I kind of doubt our team would take that approach. But the idea that any professional team eould take this sort of attitude is just terrible.

With the rookie contract I think it’s a good philosophy if all the qbs in the draft are gambles.   Why not take the biggest shot?

For the same reason that you work hard and try to build financial security rather than betting your future on buying lottery tickets.

I don't want our team just throwing darts at a board thinking "hell, maybe this guy will be good". I want them doing their homework, scouting him, interviewing him and making smart choices when it comes time to turn in their pick.

And thankfully, with the coaching staff and braintrust that we have now, that's exactly what I expect them to do.

I don't see Stroud, Young or Levis running for an 80 yard TD against LSU. 

You're got a serious hate boner against him, and I respect that, but please.
