Not sure how they have the money to do that, they were mortgaged to the hilt. He's a good QB but man, the cupboards are bare there.

That team is going to be living a post-Mardi Gras hangover for the next few seasons.

Yeah, they need a QB, but they also need a lot else.  Especially on offense.

I doubt he ultimately helps their money situation.  You have to assume it is heavily back-loaded with some deadlines for accelerators that make those years guaranteed (much like his Raiders contract).

They could wind up being a team with a decent defense, good QB, and little else on the offensive side of the ball.  I don't think that is an ideal fit for him.

This move also probably starts the countdown for their coaching staff.  If they thought they had a few years, they need to think again.

So they win a weak division, get their teeth kicked in during the playoffs and keep their cycle of never rebuilding alive for another year or two?  Great!  When they utterly implode in a couple of seasons, we should be peaking.  Perfect timing.

Gonna assume it's in the 4 year $150M range. Low salary this year with most of it in a signing bonus. Probably has 1 or 2 void years to spread the bonus.

Oh yes let them kick out good money for a meh QB and watch the cuts coming..

oh happy day

We've all been saying that the NFC South team that lands a legit QB is poised to own the division for the foreseeable future. Well, the Saints just did that.

Folks, we just got a guarantee that we're gonna do something very bold (and hopefully not very stupid) in the draft.

Legit QB is my problem with this statement..

The defense is old and the Oline is Falling apart .. Im good that they are trying to avoid a rebuild they should be doing..

The Saints always seemed like a logical landing spot for Carr. With Andy Dalton a free agent, and Jameis Winston a cut candidate, Carr represented the best veteran option available.

Carr might not offer young upside, but he has proven he can move the offense in the right setting. Whether that setting is in New Orleans remains to be seen, but there weren't many routes for the veteran Saints to take in hopes of remaining relevant.

    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
    • I don't really care about your post at all. I just saw the direction of the discussion and this snippet from an article I read earlier in the day was a good spot to put non-Panthers info. I mostly don't care about the players personal lives. That's off the field/personal poo. Not really any of my business.  I also don't know him personally so what would be the point of congratulating him outside basically attempting to draw attention to myself like so many in the social media/internet realm.
