Saints Sign Derek Carr to 4 year deal.

The Panthers just put the Saints in a very tight spot by them thinking we were in on a Carr deal .  They will not be taking a QB in the draft which helps us and the are so far above the cap they can't go after a free agent and probably can't afford their own players

Yeah he is but now that cap manipulation is with 35 year old players contracts not 26 to 30 year old players contracts.. They are extending contracts of players close to retirement age.. They can’t make big moves in Fa and will have to cut players just to sign their draft class.. This will be epic when it fails..

This. Manipulating the cap always worked when they were doing it for their stars like Brees because he was elite. Paying Carr elite money is like Hurney restructuring Short and Olsen after injuries where we got very little return for a lot of cap space or giving Teddy and Sam almost $60M combined for just over two seasons.

Indy & Carolina both need to identify the QB prospect they want & do what it takes to move up & get him. I don’t think patience is your friend right now with so many QB needy teams out there. Bears can issue a buy now price for that pick & I believe one of these 2 will pay it.

We've all been saying that the NFC South team that lands a legit QB is poised to own the division for the foreseeable future. Well, the Saints just did that.

Folks, we just got a guarantee that we're gonna do something very bold (and hopefully not very stupid) in the draft.

We better make the right call, otherwise we’ll have an expensive Burns with a shitty offense for 3 more years while our division is ripe for a great team. If we give up a ton of draft capital for the wrong guy, especially after not trading Burns, it’s going to suck.

I fully expect a decision to be made this off-season that will determine whether there's a new era of Panthers success on the horizon or the period of flailing will be extended a few more years.

We shall see. I sure hope we get it right because I for one am really tired and frustrated with the flailing.

at this point I really do think they go 1-2

Yeah, im thinking we do everything possible to get to 1 overall.  Then, its a decision between Young and Stroud.  Honestly IDK who I would pick at this point.  I lean towards Young, as overall hes the more well rounded QB, but his size scares me...and CJ is a helluva QB in his own right.  Gonna be interesting to see what happens in the next month.

    • Seems to me that the Bucs have less fight in them now than they had in week 16. The real test is going to be if the Panthers can sustain focus and discipline throughout. With the Bucs being at home, maybe that gives them a little boost of confidence and energy.  Wouldn’t it be something if for ONCE the Panthers came out and dominated from the opening snap and just took this shook Bucs team to task?  If the Panthers see-saw form follows, we are in line for the W. Hard to say we have momentum but we do have a pretty clear pattern of following a loss with a win.  I’m going to say 24-16 Panthers!!
    • When Parcell’s said Bryce better “walk on water”…..the implied concern wasn’t that the tiny QB could survive being hit.  It was acknowledging he would have to be extremely special to overcome the handicaps he would face at this level.  Which he isn’t and can’t.  which isn’t just being hit.  It’s being able to play in an NFL pocket and make NFL throws from it….and that ultimately is Bryce’s problem.  He doesn’t play well from a NFL pocket and can’t make all the throws as needed.  He can’t see as others can.  Which impacts the throws he does and doesn’t take.  It also impacts him bailing and killing plays and turning them into scrambles/dead plays
    • 9:30 kick off here in Scotland, which is better than the 01:20 early hours of Monday that I feared. Will definitely be watching, but probably wouldn't if it had been 0120 as I need to be up for work at 05:45. Falcons Saints is 6pm on the Sunday so will watch that too if it becomes relevant
