I don’t need a mentor / extra coach to have that cap hit. We have a bunch of former QBs on the coaching staff for that role. We could have gone cheaper.

Who?  2 years 10m is pretty cheap for a backup qb.

Agreed.

This signing makes it LESS likely that the Panthers draft anyone other than Young or Stroud.

Dalton is a backup NOT a bridge.

or you could look at it as if you if were drafting a QB to start early, for example Young or Stroud you would have gone cheaper as your backup.

There a bunch of QBs who aren’t signed who can sit there and talk CJ through how to prepare every day and point out missed reads and such that wouldn’t cost 10 million.

Next , we will sign Carson Wents and Dalton and Wentz will be competing for the starting Job

Then there will still be Homer's here defending it , that's why I wasn't crazy about the Riech hire, he was fired , oh its because the Colts were idiots

Just like we thought the jets were idiots, just like we thought the browns were idiots

And when we are 3-14 next season , we will be the idiots , if we wanted to continue to shuffle washed up QBs through Charlotte, we might has well kept Rhule

    • It's not common for a RB to recover from two ACL tears in the same knee. It's fairly rare. You are correct that it isn't the career ender that it used to be but there is also the fact that we appear to have largely moved on with the additions of Dowdle and Etienne.  Dobbins is a very good example. He has basically missed 54% of his career regular season games since he came into the league in 2020. It will end up being 57% at the conclusion of this season. It's a big contributing factor to why he is on this third NFL team in 6 years. It's certainly possible that may be 4 by the beginning of next season. I would say there is very little chance that Brooks ever contributes in any meaningful way in Carolina. Possibly with another team but I am extremely skeptical of his future here because of those injuries and because of the roster.
    • Dude he didnt play in pre season.....  he didnt practice at all with the team until the end of October.    I do agree though.
    • Bryce had a hand in the Miami win but not nearly as large of one as Rico and he also had the extra burden of being a big reason we were in the hole in the first place. If we get a winning season he is definitely back for next year though.
