Former Panthers QB: “No doubt in my mind” they pick Bryce Young

I'm glad that reporters can't agree on who various factions within our team favor.  It means we've learned to properly smokescreen what we're doing.  Finally.  This is a Good Thing (tm).

Here's how I see it.  There is really no down side to Stroud.  The biggest knock on him is that he was throwing to hall of fame wide receivers.  The worst I see for him down the road is being a decent to good quarterback.  Bryce Young on the other hand is more of a gamble.  Not that he doesn't have the talent, but can he last long enough in this league to have good success?

So can you imagine we draft Young and he struggles or get hurt, while Stroud goes on to be a prolific QB?  Personally, I can live with us picking Stroud and Young goes on to have the better career.  Yet I would be devastated if we take Young and he flames out.

I really think Young is a the highest value risk reward swing. Sure he is small and can get hurt, but If he hits, he is a superbowl QB.

The "Little General" Eddie LeBaron was 5'7" 168lbs when he played.

And to do you one better,

Davey O-Brien was 5'7" and weighed 151lbs. He only played briefly in the NFL and gave up football to be an FBI agent.

They're the two smallest guys to ever play QB in the NFL.

Young’s height and size concerns me ALOT. He is just one big hit away from injury or getting rattled.

I just don't see it happening.  Count me as a non-believer.  I'm not overly thrilled about Stroud either, but he, at least on tape, appears to be extremely accurate and great at shifting around in the pocket.  Brees-esque in the regard.

That's every player ever. One bad angle is all it takes no matter how large someone is. It was just a few weeks ago that a guy bigger than Young took a helmet to the chest and nearly died on the field.

Young took big hits in college and didn't get rattled. Stroud on the other hand got rattled quite a lot when pressured and hit.

The post was in reply to Razor's request to name a good QB that was small and had nothing to do with Young. Razor didn't say the QB had to be in the modern era either and had just said name one like it hadn't ever happened before. He would have had a point if there never had been small players at QB before, but history shows there has been though it has been rare. And yeah, players have gotten bigger over the years, but that's true for people in general.

And I want Ahlers at 1 for the laughs but will settle for Richardson, Hooker, or Levis. Come to think about it, Bennett who is another smaller guy at 1 would work too.
