They can't announce this because if the Panthers finish ahead of the Niners, then swapping picks for that round is not to the Panther advantage.

I'm confident there is no way Carolina does this deal in a way that they could actually come out worse in the draft unless there is some other factor involved as well.

(CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — The Panthers are retaining Eddy Piñeiro as their kicker after cutting Zane Gonzalez Thursday, CSL reports. Piñeiro will be on a two-year deal. K Eddy Pineiro is returning to the Panthers on a 2-year deal, per source. He was one of the best in NFL last year.
