Young will be the pick. He has the personality, drive, and attitude to be the best in the league although he would say he just wants to be the best version of himself. He was a psych major and had great teachers and mentors along the way. I am not as worried as I was about injuries when he said he was always smaller than everyone else and just takes that as a given. So he knows how to avoid contact and not take full body assaults. He really seems special. I honestly have changed my mind and readily see what the coaches see in Young. I like everyone will be rooting for good health.

Very unsure of this draft, unlike most others here. Awaiting for the other shoe to drop as Tepper has made or influenced a bone-head decision at least once or twice every off-season, IMO. Is Young the one or will there be another with lesser impact? Could Stroud be the pick despite being favored by at least one of the draft "experts", who has a record of picking busts dating back for years. IMO, 2nd has to be edge or CB with the rest of draft being balanced between O & D. Just don't think it is too wise to draft 6-7 players on one side, ala Rhule, or 3 picks at one position, ala G-Man.

Young #1

Picking up a WR, EDGE, and LB for sure. I could see another DL.

Expecting a trade down from #39 and for one of the last two picks to be involved in a second move on day 3.

Honestly, no idea. This will be the first draft w/o Rhule so I'm interested in seeing how much influence Fitterer had last season as well as what type of players he covets. There's also trying to find out who Reich, Brown, and Evero prefer as well for what they run. I'm excited to see how that plays out.

Just now, chknwing said:

I think we trade down and take Richardson.   He has all the tools that can't be coached that young and Stroud will never have.

If they take AR it will be 1st overall.  I doubt they can convince Huston to trade up for Young or Stroud and going down any further risks missing out all together.  Unless they decide to go with Levis.  But I think Levis is going higher than most think. Fans do not like him but quite a few teams do. I expect some trading up if a couple of guys drop out of the top 5. It's going to be a wild draft.

Here at No. 1, I could see the Panthers debating whether to take Ohio State's C.J. Stroud because his pocket passing could be a positive to Frank Reich,  given his work with Matt Ryan, Carson Wentz and Philip Rivers in Indianapolis , but Alabama's Bryce Young is probably the favorite of ownership and the front office.

Some team people say they think the Panthers wants Young, although others think the franchise wants Stroud.

Right now, I am leaning toward Young. The only knock on him (5-10, 204) is his size, but he was durable overall in his two years as a starter in the SEC.

    • I was in a typical argument last year with a Bryce advocate and said I could concede every point, but you still would not have an answer for the ball security issues. He coughs it up on the regular. And defenses know this obviously, the likelihood is it keeps happening.  There is nothing we can point to showing it won’t.   And I won’t ever concede that his margins for error are very thin due to his physical makeup. He has to be so much better than the guys with tools just to get similar results. It is expecting too much.
    • Of course not that I believe Andy Dalton would make us an instant superbowl contenders, but we would definitely see an instant improvement offensively.  Last year when Dalton came in, he threw over 300 yards and 3 TDs.  This is the style of offense Canales seeks to run.  This year we got even more guys to put up air production. (Tetairoa, the intricate routes of Hunter Renfroe, speed with Jimmy Horn, and hopefully the healthy return of Jalen Coker)  Combine that with our running game, and we would be a real threat.  So what Dalton represents, is the opportunity to see what this offense can really do.  What would happen if we can combine this run game, with an effective down the field passing attack?
