Ive heard so many criticisms about what it cost the Panthers to swap first round picks with the Bears.

Too many picks in return, 25yo WR in his prime, ect.

No clear number one QB.

Since the trade, 90% of news about the NFL in general and 100% of draft coverage includes the Panthers.

You cant buy that kind of publicity.

100% worth it to me.

bingo, its also why they are not going to announce the pick until draft day, it would be the most boneheaded move from a PR standpoint ever.  We are the first topic in the NFL right now without a question, so call your pick and give up the publicity to Houston at #2?  Young is the pick, its that simple, we arent going to announce till draft day, its as simple as that.

They're actually not allowed to announce the pick - the NFL forbids it.

I’d also argue because its become clear we are picking Young, I think the talk shows of late have been talking about Houston more than us because they are trying to figure out what the next pick of the draft is. When the Panthers get brought up it’s just “Go get your Young #9 jersey” and then moving on.

    • I didn't move the goal posts. But anyone who follows football who wants to engage in a rational discussion can't argue that 10 7th round picks are equal to 10 1st rounders in value. The argument has always been we haven't spent as much on defense has we have on offense. Draft picks have value just like salary. We have not spent the same amount of draft pick salary cap on defense that we have on offense since drafting Bryce. It's not even close. Just the 2 1sts we used on Bryce, 2 overall 1sts have a value of 6000. That doesn’t even factor in DJ Moore or the 2 2nds. Bryce cost more than everything we've spent on defense in 6 damn years.
    • We need to hope this scenario plays our next week he fails with pressure…what that means with Evero, is beyond me
    • Woukd be a great addition You know the issues from my prespective, 2 things the Panthers must do 1. Edge or pass rushers or 2 oline or 3 oline or as Andy Reid says, when in doubt, draft a lineman it is time   That oline is troubling plus a small person at QB  they   1. Can do a lot better than mayes at center, 2. and lewis has had injuries all season. 3. Moton should not have  been resigned long term, 4. corbett is a shadow and will probably be released  5 and Christianson coming off Achilles   6 and the kicker, would be Ickey’s contract if they decide to keep him INMO rookie and contracts will be needed to offset all that
