This is where people who have watched him play less and people without medical degrees resort to their "common sense" to argue against his points.

Before you go there:

"Dr. Cain's research interest involves the evaluation and prevention of injuries in youth sports, as well as the treatment of adult injuries in the shoulder, elbow and knee, including cartilage and meniscal transplantation....Dr. Cain has presented papers and instructional courses for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and The International Society for Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery on the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of knee, shoulder and elbow injuries."  Quarterbacks' #1 area for injuries is the shoulder by far.

This supports the research about smaller players getting hurt LESS than larger players (posted a few weeks ago).  But go ahead, challenge the good doctor with your "common sense."

Yes, injuries happen (eventually) to all football players, but there is reason to suggest that Young is no more vulnerable than any other player.

To the doctor's critics:  Would you prefer a doctor less familiar with Young's playing style to provide an opinion?  If so, would that not be a less informed opinion?
You imply the presence of bias in your biased comments as if it discredits all he says.  Think about that level of hypocrisy.

Team doctor??

Excuse Me What GIF by Bounce

This is a good example of why even folks who are warming up to BY as the pick are giving odd looks to the most ardent supporters of him as the pick. The lengths to which they are going to attempt to eliminate his one very real concern are at times simply hilarious.

thats awesome and all but he is still going to get hit, to act like he is some magician and will evade all punishment is just ignorant

Come thursday night I am on board but I have watched this game for far too long to know how this ends up.  I think this merry go round we are about to get on is going to be incredibly frustrating but alas here we go

If anything, I’d say the team doctors’ comments warrant more concern rather than alleviating it.

So Young has already suffered from a sprained AC joint, and as the team doctor mentioned, it wasn’t from a big hit… it was from a routine play that could easily happen at least once a game. So what happens when he actually gets lit up?

Young’s size is a concern just like Stroud’s test score, anyone saying otherwise is kidding themselves.

Again, I’m team Stroud but whoever we take I’ll support. Whoever it is I hope he leads us to multiple Super Bowl wins in his short time as a Panthers QB because they’re never old enough to get calls, nor will QB protection rules apply which WILL lead to injuries.

    • I'd love blue to be the new primary.
    • not sure if any of this is news, but a good summary of our situation heading into training camp.  It's sure gonna be good getting Derrick back. After missing virtually all of the 2024 season, Panthers defensive tackle Derrick Brown is aiming for a full return to the field during training camp later this summer, per Joseph Person of The Athletic. Brown tore his meniscus in Week 1 and underwent season-ending surgery that has kept him limited through spring practices, though he did participate in “walk-throughs and light side work” during mandatory minicamp, according to Person. Brown originally stated a desire to be ready for the 2025 regular season, but his timeline appears to have moved up. Brown’s injury was particularly disappointing after a career-best 2023 season. He led all defensive linemen with 103 total tackles and was named to his first Pro Bowl, earning him a four-year, $96MM extension from the Panthers in April 2024. While he has never been a prolific pass rusher, Brown’s size and power has consistently commanded double-teams and created opportunities for his teammates. His impact was evident last season, as Carolina’s run defense ranked dead-last in his absence. The Panthers spent significant resources this offseason on defensive line depth, which should allow them to manage Brown’s usage more carefully coming off a major injury. He played a whopping 940 defensive snaps in 2023 (89% of the team’s total) and was on the field for almost every play before his injury last year. With new teammates Tershawn Wharton, Bobby Brown III, and Cam Jackson ready to share the load, Derrick Brown can take a lower snap share to stay fresh and healthy for the entire season.
