Official NFL 2023 Draft Discussion

And for comparison, even though people said the 2022 draft was bad for QBs, 9 were still taken.

Quote

There were nine QBs drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft. It marked the second-fewest of any draft in the past decade. Only the 2015 QB class saw fewer players selected than in 2022 (seven).

The 2022 NFL Draft was the first time that just one quarterback was drafted in the first round since EJ Manuel in 2013. It is just the second time in the past 20 years that the feat has occurred. The 20th pick is also the latest that the first QB has come off the board in those 20 years. Manuel at 16th in the 2013 NFL Draft was the only time since 2001 that a QB had not been taken inside the top 10.

Just now, Dilla said:

He'll probably get drafted in the 7th for this very reason, but if he doesn't, Andrew Vorhees would be a great sign and stash guy. Day 2 talent that tore his ACL during the Combine so his rookie will be a shelf year.

Yeah he was someone I would have been okay with taking a flier on today. Should be a priority udfa if he doesn't hear his name called.

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
