That wasn't what those highlights showed. But to be fair I don't watch much Oregon football last year. I watched the UGA game and some of the Utah game that I can recall. Can't say I ever noticed this guy.

Didn't notice him once during the holiday bowl vs unc. Hell he might not of even played.

Not really a fan of this pick with the trade up. For sure a developmental player, but at 25 we may only get two years out of his contract where he's a legit contributor or depth. By the time he's ready for his second contract he may have already lost a little bit of juice

This is a bad pick no way around it.

Just reading the scouting report is says he is a project. The problem I have is he is already 25 years old.

By the time he's coached up he will be approaching 30. This is just a bad trade up. Washington was there for the taking.smh

Well heck if the scouting report written by guys who never worked in a football organization says it….it must be true.

also - he’s 24.  So you’ll get 10 years out of him instead of 12.  Is that really a big deal?  He’s a third rounder for goodness sakes

He’s a 3rd round pick man. If DC sees something and can make him blossom for 3 -4 years at a fringe starter level then we win and simply draft his replacement.

The team looks to win immediately. Johnson could be an immediate role player and we need someone who can stop the run.

There are dudes in the 3rd round of this draft that don’t need 3-4 years to blossom.  You talking about blossoming at near 30 given his age.

we just drafted a rookie QB #1 overall.  We aren’t a win immediately team.  We got to develop our QB.

should of just drafted that 6’7 UGA TE instead and focused on Bryce Young’s development.

    • You are right--it was DC.  I remember talking to him at Belk in Albemarle one day--the Panthers were on a bye and they were (at the time) a disapointing 4-4.  I mentioned that the record was disappointing and he seemed to get a bit annoyed.  He dId not say anything.  I trying to suggest that we will get better, but I think he was pretty upset about it.  No hard feelings, but the man was simply trying to shop with his wife and this annoying jerk starts making comments about his job---I get it.  I apologized, telling him that I was trying to be supportive and not critical--he did not think it was a big deal.  I'd see him at events from time to time-he'd wave or say hi, but it was awkward for me.  Figured I would say something stupid.  Jordan was pretty popular--nothing like she seems to be now--she is holding her own in a man's world...proud of her.
    • Like we have had the last 3 years.
    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
