No more BOA

The BOA sponsorship ends with the 2024 season, so this isn't really a premature conversation.  I expect it to be a major talking point next off-season after we see how successful the new regime is vs previous years.  Better team = higher demand to be associated with it

Other reports suggest an increase to $8-10m/year, which may lean towards a 10 year contract vs BOA's 20 year investment. I can't see a company paying $200m (20 yr at $10m, assuming it's a one-time payment)    and there are only so many businesses that can fork over $10m/yr without issue

I think the going rate to be an "Official Sponsor of the Carolina Panthers", at least within the industry I work in, is roughly 5 million per year.

I would assume the naming rights to the stadium might be significantly higher.

Whatever it is, I suspect there will be some tea leaves to read regarding timing of a new stadium, which would fetch huge dollars by itself. Also have to keep in mind that there'll be other stadiums coming too which could take some potential sponsors, including new ones in Buffalo, Nashville, and DC (which will almost certainly have their pick of sponsors in a mega-deal to compete with Bezos). In fact, I think a new DC stadium could break the $500m sponsorship mark.

That being said, my contenders would be:

American Airlines Field due to the Charlotte hub, but I'm not sure airlines are throwing money like this at sponsorships anymore.

I also think it could be a random one like:

Samsung Stadium--but then again this feels like the name for a new (or heavily renovated) stadium. The tech upgrades, customer experience, and product placement takes care of itself. All the video boards, ribbon boards, monitors, wifi, everything--all Samsung and probably special features for Samsung phone owners (like me! 👍).

Too tight of a timeframe to tie it to a new stadium (if a new stadium is going to happen -- which may or may not).

Doubtful it would be Samsung -- any tie-ins would have to be with the carrier vs the device, hence t-mobile or verizon (AT&T is already taken), because that integration is easier and more likely to showcase connectivity for potential new customers vs people without a device not seeing a benefit.

Samsung could be the "official Big Screen", but I can't see them as being stadium sponsor.

    • You are right. At the same time I don’t think people are watching games going come on Bryce put it on the ground or sail it OB or whatever. They just have trouble seeing him turning his 3 or four or five top games of 2025 into the weekly standard outing. Which you expect for the kind of money he will ask for (speaking for myself anyway).
    • In terms of comparing Pickett and Young's arm talent it's basically a push at best. Pickett is sitting at 6.2 yards per pass attempt for his career while Bryce sits at 6.0 Last season Bryce was 6.3 in yards per pass attempt. Only Justin Fields Spencer Rattler (both 6.2) Kyler Murray (6.0) 41 year old Joe Flacco (6.0) 44 year old Phillip Rivers (5.9) rookie Cam Ward (5.9) and Tyrod Taylor (5.8) had less pass yards per attempt than Bryce Young in his third season as a starter. Folks going around acting as if it is beyond the pale to say Pickett might have a better arm than Young are living in an alternate reality. You can choose to not believe your own eyes after 46 games but everyone else will acknowledge reality and move forward accordingly.
