Blech. Comcast has nabbed an "exclusive" playoff game broadcast

For the first time, a streaming service (PEACOCK) has been awarded a playoff game broadcast.  (before, playoff games would be on one of the major networks)

Like all NFL games on cable, Peacock’s playoff game will be available to watch over-the-air in the participating teams’ home markets, and most likely on an NBC affiliate. The game will also be available to watch on the NFL+ app.

No word yet if this would be included as a Sunday Ticket event or not.  Also, no word if this would require the paid version of Peacock or if it would be accessible to all Peacock users since NBC sells commercial time to help subsidize the darn thing. If it's the former, that sucks. If it's the latter, then they better get their app working better than it does now.  And they better have the infrastructure to handle it -- remember all those times Amazon would crash due to high demand, or HBOMax during the Game of Thrones airings?

Panthers-related:  the only other time a playoff game was not broadcast (or simulcast) on a network was when ESPN carried the 2015 ARI-CAR wild card game (it was not aired on ABC, as would be typical for an ESPN production).

That game probably did air on WSOC locally, so local fans probably didn't notice.

shame we will never get an easier playoff game. that poor 3rd string QB they had went to go up against prime Luke and TD.

The NFL got so big because everyone with a TV could tune in on Sun and a game was on. The more they take games off over air tv the less people will care.

I stopped with the NBA years ago because they moved to cable with there games now I care about the NBA 0%. Have not seen MNF or TNF in over 2years and it gets easier and easier to miss.

Less people watch this game and they can't sell advertising if no one is watching, hope they don't forget what made the NFL great.

    • The Athletic posted their goalie rankings for the season... The description of the tiers are as follows... Where would you rank Freddie and Pyotr? And don't cheat and look up the article. I'll post their ranks and the link in a bit.
    • Refs will be in their pocket. Always have to account for that. They are 20th in rush defense. They currently have the worst pass defense in the league. I mean I want to say even Bryce could at least put up 250 or more passing yards given that but man he looked BAD when the pocket collapsed against Miami and they had the 20th pass defense. Just can't expect to consistently get clean pockets like that in this league even with the better OL's. I'd say with this being a home game hopefully our guys will be motivated regardless. We certainly seem to play much better at home. We'll see.
    • They'd never do it, because it really would be insane to do, but if I'm the Commanders, I'd seriously consider trading Daniels after this season, especially as he'd get a HUGE return for him. He's RG3 part 2, with his body type and style of game, I just can't see how he holds up long term, he's going to end up having a seriously injury prone career. It would take some massive balls (or pure insanity) to pull the trigger on trading him, but I do think 5 years from now it would be looked back upon as a smart trade.
