Panthers trying to trade Corral?

IMO this helps having Corral around.  Young size is and always will be a concern.  There isn't a LB or DE in this league that isn't going to miss a shot at lighting him up because he a smaller QB.

The Kirk Cousin comparison is a good one.  I think given reps Corral is going to be a solid backup and possible start one day. Whether with the Panthers or someone else.

Keeping and developing corral sounds good in theory but that means burning a roster spot for someone that probably isn’t going to help for 2 years.   Reich hasn’t shown he likes to carry 3 qbs in the past.   Most teams don’t.  It’s a waste and they use the ps to develop guys.  It’s just a matter of if a team claims him if we try to stash corral.   I think some team would have a look on general principle

Probably a similar situation for whoever is in that roster spot. I don't have strong feelings either way. They can do as they see fit.

Reports are Evero loves Chinn and is excited to use him as a big part of his defense.

Hard to buy them parting with him under those circumstances.

Yeah, he seems to be one of the most important pieces of what they like to do. I don't know why everyone is so eager to trade him off.

Nothing would surprise me though.

I've been extremely curious how we'll ultimately use Chinn. I don't think they're really showing their cards too much on that one in preseason.

but they still count toward your 53 man roster, so essentially he would be taking a space of someone who would in theory participate in a game

Stash him on the PS as a protected player unless Young gets hurt. It's unlikely (not impossible) that you need 3 qb's in 1 game.

My rule for trading Corral right now is the same as my rule for selling my house.  I'm not looking to do it, but if somebody rings the doorbell and offers me a huge price, sold.

The goal for Corral is to replace Dalton in time.  Any development he gets under this coaching staff is more than he got last year.  If he does live up to being a solid #2, he will be worth more next year or the following than he is now, both to us and others.

But, like I said, if somebody rings the doorbell and makes a deal too good to refuse.......

Agreed entirely. The tools are there. You can have a cheap, young backup at a premium position.

He may develop into a nice asset, and that benefits us if something unfortunate happens with Bryce, or he gets a rep as an up and coming backup, and a team may bite if they are in need.

He’s basically insurance. Won’t need him until you need him, but that makes more sense to me than a 5th linebacker that could be stashed on PS much easier.

This guy is just guessing the Panthers are trying to trade Corral ….. boy do y’all jump on any tweet or any other media like it the honest truth

Kunkel may in fact know less than the average fan, I remember in 2019 when he said Taylor Heinicke was beating out Kyle Allen and Will Grier to be QB2, and then he got cut a week later

    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
    • Well, if they know Tepper wants to keep Bryce there is an an implied safety net there in case he fails. A possibility that he will be empathetic and •maybe• not fire them.  If they go against that and bring in someone else and that fails they are in a much worse spot.  IMO.  And another factor may be that after all those years of instability and musical chairs pre Bryce there will likely be a feeling of security in knowing what they have.   Kind of like settling just to keep from going through the process all over again.     IOW I think he really needs to fug up bad to lose his job and change our course.
