I’d like to see Bryce with some guys who can gain separation. It’s going to be a long year if this what the WR group is going to give us. I think Bryce is a going to be a decent QB , I’m just not sure if he’s going to have a high ceiling. I think he’s really limited physically and he needs to win in other areas of the QB position. Problem is gonna be he’s throwing to guys who can’t do a whole lot right now. He made some bad decisions and wasnt very accurate going into the end of the game but I thought the game plan changed and play calling sucked as the game went on. They had a ton of success running the ball early and the Laviska looked great but they just got away from the things that were working. Hubbard was on fire today. But It’s like they wanted Bryce to go win the game instead of just sticking with what was working. I don’t know it was weird.

Honestly, Bryce had the day that a rookie QB should in his first start.

He wasn't the problem.

On offense, there just wasn't much improvement over last year except for Chuba Hubbard. Chuba really put the work in and it shows.

Double H might be good, if nothing else he can be the outlet pass we've been needing.

That O-line was okay for the first half but man, conditioning was way down and you could see it after halftime. Maybe they need too keep the Gatorade Fast Twitches off the sideline until the 4th quarter.

The defense looked like they got better than last season. Brian Burns certainly made a case for being paid.

Still, week one is supposed to be a liar, you can't judge anything by it. Just like preseason games. But I saw pretty much the same kind of vanilla play that we were bored by in the preseason.

At least we weren't playing the Cowboys.

Rookie QB.

New Head Coach.

Season Opener.

On the road.

Vs. a division opponent.

I am satisfied with what I saw from BY yesterday.  Not thrilled, but I knew I wouldn't be.  He needs more reps, and we need more speed and sudden-ness.  On a few throws, the WR's were at fault for not doing their part...but BY was a half a second slow yesterday.

Speaking of WR's, we need some help, pretty badly.

All reasonable...

Why do people keep making this comparison?  They are nothing alike as players.  Even if you don't think Young is a good QB, their play styles and tendencies are so different.

It comes from the CJ Stroud, AR and Howell fanboys. They never wanted Young to begin with and are looking for anything to discount him. Some will NEVER accept Young not matter what he does. We will see where all these qb's stand at the end of the season.

    • He was saying Ron hid when he was cut/traded whatever that was.  I get being resentful, and feeling like that was gutless.  He, and Ron, neither are from the ‘breaking up with someone in a text or email is okay’ generation. That avoidance is seen as a lack of character.  Talking about it on camera how many years later? Why? And it is all one sided he said she said stuff. As he is speaking I am thinking well I bet that ain’t the whole story.    Between this type of stuff and him cheating on the wife stuff some of his shine is wearing off.
    • I was very critical of Ron Rivera as a coach for a range of reasons. But Steve Smith has been playing the victim for years now and it's just not working anymore. We know for a fact that he was disgruntled from the moment we drafted Cam Newton because of his own ego. That says more about him than anything he could say about Rivera. And yes Ron Rivera had a lot of faults. No excuses for it. We were right to move on from him. But ultimately Steve Smith couldn't hold it together with that group the same as he struggled to hold it together under previous regimes. He needs to grow up and accept his own role in the last few years of his Panthers career because there are things he could and should have done differently the same as anyone else. Stop seeking to only shift blame to everyone else and evolve or just stop talking and fade away. This isn't helping anyone and it is certainly not helping his image.
    • A friend of mine was involved in building Steve Smith's house and nearly came to blows with him during the process.  Love Smitty as a player, but I've heard very little good about him as a human being.
