Does playing in North Carolina suck as a professional athlete?

The "Bay Area" also consists of several cities.  For all we know OP is moving to like Hayward or maybe even one of the elite enclaves like Palo Alto depending on what he does.  Probably not a tent in the Tenderloin or something.

btw places like California, Oregon, and Washington are where states like ours ship their homeless people, since the topic keeps getting brought up

We have decent beaches besides that it's not a glamour market. People on the outside think we are just a country farm backwoods state which is honestly kind of accurate.

The mountains are great. Got a great history. People that think that we are a country farm backwoods state don't have a clue what that even looks like then.

Yeah there are rural areas but every state has that. I guess people would only find it cool if there was night life, and plenty of places to get poo faced. Which honestly, is kind of lame.

if the south embraced walkable cities it would be better here by a mile

Walkability is great for places with high population density, but that’s never been the south. What makes living down here nice (traditionally anyway) has been the low pop density (big single family housing plots, etc).

Thats why the suburbs exist. A lot of people don’t want to live in an apartment/condo.

Much like our boy CMC, I’ve been traded to the Bay Area. My firm is moving me there + a promotion/bonus. Mentally my toes are already in the sand of the beaches on the Pacific Ocean. I grew up here, left for college/mid twenties and came back expecting to spend the rest of my life here, but upon some reflection it’s one of the most uninspiring places in the US.  Creativity and ingenuity are stifled here.  “This is how we’ve always done it” should be the State slogan. Ive figured out why the Panthers (and Hornets) suck. Charlotte sucks, and to some extend North Carolina sucks. In a way that is what makes it North Carolina but for anyone really striving for “more” in life than Bojangles and winning the powerball it’s basically Mississippi.

This is just my personal experience and it means very little but I wonder how it must feel playing professional sports in the “city” of Charlotte. I can’t imagine anybody on the Panthers roster puts on the uniform and plays “for the city” like they do in Pittsburgh, Philly, Dallas etc. There isn’t anything about Charlotte or Raleigh that make them “special” or unique, and they only have teams because of the population.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that so many former players ball out when they leave here.

Please make sure to post a pic of your new manbun and kitten when you get out there

Yes. There is nothing for a young, rich, athlete to do in Charlotte or Raleigh. Great state to raise a family, but not for a young man living out his athletic glory days.

Of course there is.  Charlotte has plenty of young pussy, nightclubs, titty bars, jewelry stores and mansions.

If you are wealthy then California is the best place to live in America.

If you are lower/middle class then California is probably not the best place to live.

and lower/middle class in Cali would be upper middle class here.

    • Varying degrees all around but it starts at the top. That is where the buck stops. It has been 8 years of stupid, long before Morgan came back. Or Tillis was hired. Made it to the top of stupid mountain in 2023. Stayed in stupid limbo for a while, now we are prepping to scale the next mountain. In this case, I like those guys’ roster building better than what we have had so I am okay with them as our current pawns in the game of Bryce.
    • Don't let me gas him up too much, but I hear this and that...... I seen a wide body man with a quick burst, that's able to shed blocks and if extends his long arms its over. He tore up the OL in the senior, you seen about 10 plays and the dog walking OLman. There's other plays of him doing the same, just have to deal with fetus talking over the plays. Plus there's this-  https://x.com/PFF_College/status/2018385471068332410?lang=en     I hope he's ready, cause Id like to see him starting and doing his thang with dbrown, nic, and Phillips.
    • I mean there is relevance to that. But I think much of it has to do with the fact that he is clearly likeable. But does that translate to a coach taking his position to the next level like those that have had staying power for many years like Spoelstra? And not for nothing but does how much someone is liked even matter? Across leagues with the Panthers Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney were universally well liked by players. Dave Canales is very well liked. I say you are what your record says. And the record says you got your ass handed to you by a fellow expansion team in the Magic in a game that was over at halftime and that same team went toe to toe with our nemesis who has been handing us L's for over a year now. And if Bam doesn't get his leg swept by LaMelo do we even get past the Heat? Again. It just all boils down to personal standards. I think newer and younger fans will love this. I just want to actually win a real playoff game fam 🤷‍♂️
