Wilbon talked about this yesterday as a real possibility since they have a ton of draft capital.  cough cough

That’s a big part of it, along with his connection of playing most of his career there, similar to one of the reasons he wanted the Michigan job in the first place.

I was hoping for a lot more than another Wilks/Reich level coach. I don't think those guys match well with the Teppers' BS. Reich ended up with Young and Wilks ended up with Rosen. Just running the most basic offense isn't the end to hope for, it should be the beginning.

How is Peters doing there now? If it's good what would it take to make him GM and does he have any HC thoughts and connections? They recovered well from Lance but they still look like they can't get over their QB hurdle they have faced since Smith. So many close tries but not the big Franchise QB they keep swinging for.

    • I get it's disappointing, but this was definitely a seller's market and the only players traded away were players that would be depth pieces at best for us. A lot of the top teams (Avs, Stars, Lightning, Wild post Hughes) really only traded for depth pieces. Just a terrible trade deadline all around and I'm glad we didn't cave and sell the farm for somebody like Tro (even though I like him and he fits our team well).
    • Yes the Icky thing really kills us this year with a 17.4 I think, million dollar hole, for nothing.     His extension would likely have reduced his 2026 hit. But the extension was going to be massive.    At the same time, the massive extension money is largely freed up now and can go elsewhere.  There is just no way he should be in line for the same payday as pre injury.  I say largely freed because maybe we can do a little hollowed out extension to give him a window to get back and stay with the team past this year. Snap count and/or other incentives for 2027. Something that leaves the door open for him to get a fresh contract that reflects his value moving into 2028. Whatever that proves to be.  We’d have a lot of that money that was earmarked for his extension available to us starting next year.
    • What a major letdown. This team will forever disappoint me
