I don't think he has the experience yet but he's one to watch out for in the future. Coming to work for Tepper would be career suicide though.

I’m a fan from everything I’ve seen since Seattle. He’s very promising and 13 years of NFL experience ain’t nothing. He’s got a solid grounding. More to prove as a coordinator, but he seems to have HC potential.

He’s definitely worth interviewing especially after getting a career season out of Baker Mayfield but let’s also not forget that he has Mike Evans who is going to be a first ballot HOFer and Chris Godwin who isn’t a slouch. The Tampa offense also had the benefit of learning the TB12 method for 3 years. Canales is an interesting candidate but the Panthers need someone who can build the offense up from nothing. Bobby Slowik or Ben Johnson seem to fit that bill better.

My expectations are so low after our last two head coaches that I would be happy with almost anyone with half a brain. This guy does have extreme potential written all over him and you sold me on him

They've got weapons for sure.

I was a big fan of TB's cadence last night.  It felt he was playing ahead of the defense and had a good feel for run v. pass calls.  I just love that feeling of an offense keeping a defense on their toes and tired. 

Tire them out and them kick em' where it hurts.  I also liked seeing that game sealing TD at the end to refute any sort of miracle comeback.  Eagles were stacking the box thinking TB was just trying to run time and they went for a medium range TD pass.  Great call.

That's been my impression but I won't claim to have read up all that much on him yet...

 I like him, but he does not have sustained success--it would be a huge gamble, and I am not certain that we are in that position.

What good is a HC if he doesn't have those traits?

Harbaugh/Carroll/BB/Tomlin

Pete Carroll took a liking to him at his football camp back in the late 2000s.  Impressed him enough to bring him on at USC when he landed that gig.  And impressed him enough there to bring him with to the NFL when he took the Seahawks gig.  Then steadily worked his way up in Seattle during Pete's tenure.    

Similar to Macdonald -- little hopping, steady progression in a single place, worked under a great coach longterm in Carroll (like Harbaugh for MM).  Worked his way up in one spot and impressed Bowles enough to bring him in as OC in Tampa.  And what's interesting was a slight dip in Geno's play this year with him gone.  Was a bit more prone to TOs and stalled drives.  

Now, his coordinator experience is just 1 year in, not much to go by.  But the results in his career have been quite strong.  WR coach for Baldwin and Lockett at their best, QB coach for Russ in his best year, then you saw what he did with Geno, and then Baker this year (Evans & Godwin of course help).  

I'm of the opinion you don't need to be a long time coordinator in order to be a HC.  Just look at John Harbaugh.  But it absolutely helps.  He may need to season himself a bit more but the potential is definitely there and he's brought results with him at every turn.  

Sometimes, the right guy may be there and you may have to let him grow into the role.  Timing is not always perfect.
