They will trade a pick for fields and be good enough to win

I had posted this previously in another thread too. If Chicago does something stupid and Fields somehow ends up in Atlanta, it's curtains for the NFC South with Belichick. He brings McDaniels back, they have a RB/TE-focused offense with actual threats at both positions plus QB, let alone at receiver. Fields was putting up gaudy, multi-TD numbers this year with overall skill position talent that's not as good as Atlanta's.

Oh, and the NFL and media types will foam at the mouth for a storyline of him winning a SB in Atlanta...a team that's been in a tailspin ever since 28-3 (and probably his best ring).

Bright side--maybe Tepper gets some act-right and brings in Harbaugh. Can't let Arthur Blank outdo him, right?

Dude hasn't had much success at QB since Brady.  Great coach but even a great coach needs at least a good QB to be competitive. Falcons lack that...

It genuinely must be killing Belichick that everyone now equates his success to Brady - and frankly it's difficult to argue otherwise.

Obviously a good HC, but without Brady he's never been elite.

If he signs with the Falcons, good luck to them. He's 72 and his powers have clearly waned. It's not something that would scare me as a Panthers fan.

This is being reported as a done deal and not very happy about personally

Man, I just realized that I'm so disillusioned by this franchise that my first thought was, "Good for them. I'm sure he'll do great there, and I kinda am rooting for him to prove he wasn't just propped up by Brady."

The Panthers have beaten my Panthers fandom down to the point that I'm literally becoming a "I just hope both teams have a good time" level fan. And it's sickening.

ARTICLE:

Could Kirk Cousins, Bill Belichick partner up with the Falcons?

It’s not quite Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, but the potential partnership of Bill Belichick and Kirk Cousins seems a little odd on the surface.

Maybe it isn’t.

Appearing Thursday with CBS Sports as part of a media car wash, Cousins addressed the possibilityof playing for Belichick.

“I have great respect for him as a coach, like everyone else in pro football,” Cousins told Isabel Gonzalez. “I mean, if you go to that many Super Bowls, win that many Super Bowls, go to that many conference championship games, have the defensive production he’s had for years and years, it says it all.

“We played them last year on Thanksgiving night. And, once again, I noticed several times what he did coverage-wise was challenging and it was different. You always know when you play him that you’re kind of looking over your shoulder [and] wondering if what you’re seeing is correct. Because you know he usually is going to break the mold and do something different, and that’s part of what has made him a great coach.”

So would he ever play for Belichick?

“I’m not gonna turn down an opportunity to play with a future Hall of Fame coach,” Cousins said. “But we’ll have to see where March leads. It’s just a lot of unknowns right now.”

The first unknown is whether the Vikings will try to keep Cousins, and whether Cousins wants to stay in Minnesota. With or without Cousins on the roster, he’ll count for $28.5 million under the salary cap for the Vikings in 2024.

It’s also unknown where Cousins wants to live. As Peter King mentioned on PFT Live, Cousins’s wife is from Alpharetta, Georgia — and her parents still live there. That becomes a very powerful magnet, especially in combination with the attraction of playing for Belichick.

As long as Matt Patricia and Joe Judge aren’t running the offense in Atlanta. And as long as Cousins doesn’t plan on telling Belichick that the quarterback won’t be working on Tuesdays.

Looks to me like the Falcons are the most attractive situation for the top HC's.

Chargers have been overhyped because of the QB. That roster is old and their cap situation isn't that great.

Falcons are the easiest route to win the division and compete in the weaker NFC. Should be interesting to see who they choose. If they land Harbaugh I might go in a deep depression.

Who cares, the Panthers wont be competitive for at least 2-3 years  and he will retire by then.

This. By the time we’re relevant again, Bill will either be on his goodbye tour or in retirement.

    • Or its more likely coordinators got film on him and turned the screws
    • I'm too lazy to make my own format so I am stealing yours.  Week 1: Sept. 8 at New Orleans  (W) 17-6 Running game and Derek Carr having a horrible opener gets the win. Week 2: Sept 15 vs. Los Angeles Chargers (L) 24-10 Hype from Week 1 goes away when Harbaugh and Herbert show up. Week 3: Sept 22 at Las Vegas  (W) 16-13 Complete defensive struggle but Panthers win on last minute FG.  Week 4: Sept. 29 vs. Cincinnati  (L) 30-13 Score is actually worse but Panthers score in garbage time. Week 5: Oct. 6 at Chicago (L) 21-10 Horrible performance by Bryce in a winnable game and even his fans start to think he's not it, press conference questions get worse and calls for benching intensifies.  Week 6: Oct. 13 vs. Atlanta (L) 20-17 Running game becomes 70% of offense to help Bryce, it works but can't get job done at the end. Week 7: Oct. 20 at Washington  (W) 21-14 Running game/defensive comes through; Bryce does okay. Week 8: Oct. 27 at Denver (L) 27-7 Complete offensive collapse. Week 9: Nov. 3 vs. New Orleans (L) 30-24 Saints keep shooting themselves in the foot but we provide them a turnover-fest and they come back in the 2nd half.  Week 10: Nov. 10 vs. N.Y. Giants (Munich, Germany) (L) 24-6 Worse offensive performance of our season. Week 11: Nov. 17 BYE Week 12: Nov. 24 vs. Kansas City (L) 34-31 OT Dalton takes over for Bryce to try to salvage season. Plays close game; gives team a slight bump. Week 13: Dec. 1 vs. Tampa Bay (W) 28-27 Dalton has nice game. Canales beats his former team in a stunner.  Week 14: Dec 8 at Philadelphia (L) 27-14 Tough crowd, tough game, run out of gas in the 4th.  Week 15: Dec: 15 vs. Dallas (L) 31-24 This will be out "worse officiated game of the year." and we will all accuse the NFL of trying to get the Cowboys in the postseason. Week 16: Dec. 22 vs. Arizona (W) 26-10 Solid win by Dalton and co.  Week 17: Dec. 29 at Tampa Bay (W) 12-10 Canales sweeps his former team and knocks them out of the postseason in an absolute rain fest. Week 18: Jan. 4 or 5 at Atlanta (L) 28-20 Close game but Atlanta holds us off.    Panthers finish 6-11. Dalton's mediocre performance shows just how bad Young really was. Panthers start the search for the next QB.
    • Want to see something crazy?  Look in Bryce stats after Dallas game.  They parked Bryce and told him to play conservative. Bryce first 9 games: 9 TDs, 8 Int, ~1,600 total yards.   Bryce last 8 games: 2 TD, 2 Int, ~1,600 total yards.  With just 1 game over 200 yards passing.  If you remove that game… Bryce is 0 TDs, 2 Int, and 1,300 total yards in 7 games. Just disaster the way the handled him.  Dude regressed as the season went on.  He took zero chance.  Just stayed in the pocket and got pounded.
