I’ll take your word for it.  So then who did he scout, Miles Sanders and DJ Chark?

Hindsight. Both players played well in their last stops before coming here. Chark was always a feast or famine option in a thin WR market. We’ve signed more contributors than we’ve drafted and that’s a real issue. But you don’t like Dan at GM that’s fine. He’s not my first option either if we’re being honest. The world won’t end if he gets the job though.

Not sure how many remember, but this would be something of a "back to the future" thing for us.

Jerry Richardson preferred a power split setup rather than a single GM. And right up till Marty Hurney, that's what we had.

OK, but under that scenario, whose going to handle what?

Theoretically, one guy handles personnel, the other general team administration, cap, etc.

That's been the 49ers model, with Peters being in charge of personnel and Lynch essentially everything else.

It's not a bad model as long as you have a true personnel guy handling the roster.

What I'm basically asking is what job do you believe that Morgan would excel at?

Isnt that sort of Samir's role currently?

How Dan carries himself. He is an alpha. Natural leader of men.  In otherworldly, he's not a yes man.

if Dan Morgan is an alpha GM  &not a " yes man " then why is he not the person hiring the next HC for the Carolina Panthers ?

Clean house. Despite being a fan favorite player, Morgan was part of the front office that put together the worst team in franchise history and one of the worst teams in the history of the NFL. You don't reward that by letting the guy fail upwards into a more powerful role.

Yeah.  I think it's time for a full flush.  You look at our personnel dept...Cole Spencer, Jared Kirskey, Robert Haines are others that have been here, leading the college front since the 2021 draft.  I won't pretend I know their true roles and how much sway they had, but Fitterer often referenced his team and how they became sold on guys during the process.  He referenced a lot of team collab--it just needs some good ole' flushing.

Jeff Morrow has also been there forever, as respected as he apparently is internally, his voice may be offering some shoddy advice.

Team building was just too awful the past three seasons to give a single one of these guys the benefit of the doubt.

Adrian Wilson-- league-wide respect and potential, he may be one that's okay to hold onto.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
