Oh okay I didn't know we were talking about college.  Cause people still talk about Bryce Young's 5'10 height in here like it's a conspiracy, posting pictures of him standing next to so-and-so person (Mina Kimes, Drew Brees, etc.) and acting like he's secretly 5'3 or something.  I don't think anyone ever took his 6'0 194 Alabama listing seriously.  Colleges routinely overstate their players' height (see link), but for some reason with Bryce Young, it's a huge deal what his college listed him as.  And not only that...but Bryce is the one lying, not Alabama.

Yeah it's really nothing much.  Happens a lot.  Just clearly happened with Caleb too.

He's 5'10" but he plays like he's 5'5". If he balls out no one will care about his height.

True although, it only would have cost us Iky, Bryce and a pick we traded for Bryce and a few other later picks. We did nothing with the picks we saved by not trading for Watson, lol. Maybe we would have felt forced to trade Burns to the Rams due to the cap and then we might have been better off, SMH.

How did we avoid that Watson disaster only to basically waste every opportunity we were given by the Browns?

That is sort of the story of us in general. We got one of the best hauls for a RB in recent memory(maybe the best in the next decade) but proceeded to basically squander those picks.

We spent a top 10 pick on McCaffrey and gave him a huge (early) contract extension.

He was in the same situation as Burns - a star player who didn't fancy playing for this franchise anymore. We got pennies on the dollar for both.

CMC never wanted to leave. He's said it interviews.

For a RB, it was actually a very nice haul. There was definitely no equivalent of the Rams offer on the table for CMC.

We got about market value(pick wise). Then we immediately took those picks and flushed them down the toilet.

What he says publicly doesn’t reflect the reality.

It was tough on everyone involved with the Rhule/Fitterer disasters. I’d run too!

I mean, the fact that basically his whole family was immediately thrilled he left said a lot. I kind of doubt he was truly upset. Maybe just a temporary pride hit.

Eh that's hardly settled. His parents were thrilled to have him on the west coast where they have nothing but familial roots. He himself seems more than content. I think it's pretty safe to say even if he didn't directly want to leave immediately he was not willing to continue risking his health and career longevity to wasted seasons here. You guys are going to have to accept that one day.

We got market value because they only looked at it as the numbers standpoint from the draft chart, but half those picks were never going to pan out, and the best pick was at the end of the 2nd round

Never should have traded CMC for anything less than a 1st, he’s the best weapon in football.  Mid to late round draft picks isn’t going to replace that, we needed 1 impact player in return if we were going to trade him at all (which we shouldn’t have).

    • I can't tell you what other's expect from him before they will start believing in him. I think for some, they will never be able to overcome his size. I think that is the fundemental problem for them which means they will never be happy with him behind center. For others, it seems he will have to be in the top 10% in pretty much every catagory and do that all seaon for them to start believing in him. Not everyone of course. There are people on this board that, while have doubts, can still acknowledge his good plays and are willing to give him another season. Those folks I would assume just want consistency - and wins. I could be off on all the above but that's kind of how I see it. And while you didn't ask, I will say I'm glad they picked up his 5th year option. He earned it. I do not think he should be signed to a long term contract yet. I do think he will develope in a franchise QB and will get the Panthers back into the playoffs and win them but I know I could be wrong. Next year will be the big test. If the offense continues to improve and they get back to the playoffs because of the offense, it will be time to sign him long term. If it's a repeat of this year, then it's time to look elsewhere for a QB. Like I said though, I believe he can be the guy so would be surprised if he doesn't make it.
    • Well since I am so biased, why don’t you tell us what he has to do to earn the trust of everyone that doubts him? If you say he has already done it, we really will never agree.
