Jim Nagy on Dave Canales

I noted the same thing when I heard him say that when I watched it.

I also have to say this is the first HC I’ve looked forward to watching every presser, and where I actually keep listening to the whole thing.

He has an interesting attention to detail while still being able to keep the focus on a larger vision / direction.

Curious if he'll have that attention to detail after a bad game/individual performance. I do like that he seems to have an enthusiasm about the actual game of football, not just playing politics in the pressers like the majority of coaches I've listened to. Doesn't mean it's an approach that will work but at least it's a little different

The more I hear him talk about football and players, the more excited I am about the season.  It doesn't guarantee anything of courses, but Canales feels like he COULD be the guy we've been looking for.

Nothing is proven right now, but man, he SEEMS like he COULD be the GUY...

he’s an intelligent guy and it’s no wonder he’s been great in his roles thus far

he still comes off very new and fresh to me, which is to be expected and can be a good thing, but with that (really like any newly promoted or new manager etc) I hope he doesn’t get in his head too much, start to overthink things and focus too much on details

it just kind of muddies everything, but time will tell and he seems like a quick learner and will adapt…something we as panthers fans are not used to at all

I’m very skeptical but as far as excitement, it’s for sure higher than Reich or that other guy

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
