It's bad when you are really just trolling people. He no way believes that poo.

Haha I was talking about espn spinning it to make it say “young shines”. The media will continue to do this crap and a lot of fans will do the same. Just look at one throw in garbage time and think he’s the guy. Let’s not forget the last two weeks when the offense looked capable or the first two weeks when the offense looked like a div three school.

How can they think he “shined”? It’s asinine.

Well it isn’t his fault. Maybe you should ask yourself the opposite. As in why we suck no matter who the QB is

It's absolutely his fault he can't operate within an NFL pocket has awful footwork and throws on his tippy toes. All of the predraft hype around him was nothing more than smoke and mirrors.

With Dalton we still suck we just suck a little less. He at least more often than not is capable of attempting all the throws that open up the field.

Today was a letdown across the board. Back to the drawing board with our staff. Have to wait and see how they finish the season. If the team is still looking like this by the end of the year Canales will rightfully get plenty of deserved criticism sent his way. A lot can happen in a few months we'll see.

Dalton has looked consistent and good when allowed to attack. Last week were dropped balls and poor pass blocking. This week was a complete collapse by the offensive and defensive game plans. They got the lead and thought they could slow play the rookie QB. Evero failed to hide defenders and trick Williams into mistakes. It looked awful for an NFL DC. The game plan was to lean on Evero with a lead to wait for Williams to make rookie mistakes. Evero can't be trusted to keep a game close.

Dalton was asked to be a game manager with the lead this week, and Canales waited too late to let Dalton attack deep. Canales trusted Evero to handle a rookie QB, and Evero tanked it by the end of the first half.

Dalton only good cause he played two of the worst defenses in the league, today he got a dose of reality. This is how are offense looked all year, idiots in this forum are just so blinded by the their Bryce hatred they taught he was gonna keep it up

The problem is that Bryce has looked like other sh*t when he has also played the worst defenses in the league...

Nobody here thought Dalton was good, even moreso when we have to become one-dimensional because our defense is utter sh*t

What worst defenses? Both the chargers and saints have top 10 defenses, the chargers are number 1 in ppg.

You mean one dimensional like in the saints game when they scored on 9 straight possessions.

There were thread saying we need to sing Dalton to a contract lol, how can you say nobody was saying Dalton was good

The many that he played last year when he also looked like crap. In 3 games, Dalton has had more games where he played good or good enough (2) than Bryce has had in 18 games (1). And the Saints are only top 10 because they played us with Bryce, Philly kept fugin around instead of doing anything halfway intelligent, and Dallas got down like 30 points in the 1st half and had to be one dimensional and turn down FGs - Saints are more middle of the pack on defense. The Chargers have also played some awful offenses this year, with the exception of KC. Not sure how great they are on defense.

And there are much worse ideas than signing Dalton to a 2-3 year deal as a bridge QB until our next 1 is drafted/ready. Like, for example, thinking Bryce is the long-term answer... Which is what you are making it sound like you want.

And people thought Dalton was again, good enough. Good enough to be able to figure out if any of our skill position players are actually good. With Bryce, we would never know if the likes of Mingo, Legette, etc. are actually worthwhile or not because the dude can't throw it more than 5 yards down field.

Nah, I don't think it's over as much as the complete dearth of talent on our team is so apparent it's causing everyone to look like poo.

As others have said, our OL had a BAD game.  The Bears have a good defense.  The beat up on us.  While we ran effectively, they were able to score points on offense.

My biggest concern was how little in the passing game we were generating.  Like at one point, Andy had more attempts than yards, and it didn't get a lot better.

We just got dunked on.  It happens.  The injuries suck, but it's going to allow other guys to make a case for their spots.  Like Coker looked pretty good at the end.  Does that mean he's stolen a spot?  No, but he's made a case for more reps.  Please replace Mingo.  I like Mingo as a blocker, but he's just not a great WR.

If that was the gameplan with our completely void of talent defense, then I would fire our entire coaching staff at halftime. I honestly don't think half of our players on defense would currently be depth players at mid power 5 schools like Rutgers or Nebraska - that is how awful the talent on our defense is.

Week 3:  Does Dalton have any flaws?

Week 5:  It's over.

Dalton's first game we had the receiving corps intact like they were assembled with Diontae bumping everyone down. Theilen was a real important piece of it. So you take him away, the production goes down a little the next week even when facing a weaker defense. It actually went down the second half of the game he was hurt in, for that matter.

Now you go against a very good defense, down Theilen but you have had a game and another week to adjust, but before you know it, Legette is off the field.

You got everyone pushed up a level, again, mid game into a different role than they prepared for. They can double Diontae and what, you have Mingo? And if they had wrinkles designed for Legette, that poo went down the drain. It was a really bad situation.

The defense, if you took any time to think about it you were probably just despondent at the prospects for the day. Knew that was likely to be pretty bad. They only hope really was that Williams help us out some.

That is going to be the biggest issue for them, going forward, over the offense.

    • As bad as AR has been, the Panthers would’ve been better off right now, if they had stayed at #9 in 2023 and picked him instead of doing what they did.  At least this way, they would’ve only wasted one draft pick vs what they gave up to pick BY. And they would have kept the #1 pick in the 2024 draft.
    • I felt pretty good about us making progress this season, surprising some people, and getting some more wins than last season going into it.  Now, after preseason, my expectations are much, much lower. I was talking with my friend who is a Bears fan, and we were discussing their drubbing of the Bills and how people try to dismiss it as “preseason, so it doesn’t count.”  It absolutely counts.  Not the wins or losses.  No one really cares about that.  But what the Bears are doing shows that even in a vanilla, non-specific scheme, they are executing at an elite level and they are disciplined.  It shows they are well coached.  They see growth in their players.  Versus us - hard to tell what we’re looking at because everything is a fuging mess.  In games we’re still undisciplined, be it penalties or assignments.  We do NOT execute.  We got random coaches calling plays that won’t be calling plays during the season, we have our players getting into fights in the last padded practice of the preseason, then we have Bryce and Chuba trying to correct it while our coach sat off to the side laughing.  To be clear, I like Canales.  He seems like a good dude.  But, it feels like we have very little direction and discipline.  You’re allowing a team who has been historically bad the last almost decade, with a losing culture that mostly bereft of talent to self-police?  You’re allowing subordinates to work in pet projects at the expense of getting valuable reps and evaluation of players in during games?     My friend literally brought up last night that when Ben Johnson got there he essentially put DJ Moore in notice because it was starting to be perceived that he was displaying some diva-behavior.  That’s leadership.  And they’re reaping the benefits early and setting a tone.  My friend said there is an excitement and confidence in and around their team that’s he’s never felt his entire life.  And here we are, sounding and looking like The Bad News Bears in our final week of training camp and preseason.  I literally stopped watching after halftime last week.  I used to watch every play faithfully, even in 2001 and 2010.  It was fun.  This isn’t.  We are bad and our administration keeps making bad decisions to compound things.  Reading poo like this today is just fuging deflating.
