I'm glad he's playing better. Almost everyone here likes Icky and wants to see him do well. Now we just need to see how he finishes the season. We have so many needs it would be fantastic if everything is finally starting to click for our left tackle.

Moving him to guard just isn't going to happen as was previously posted. We spent mega loot on OG's so that issue is settled forever.

He has also been pretty dependable this season, as well. I don't see any need to make any changes.

I think that left side will be fine. The right is probably gonna get their asses handed to them without Moton and with the center being who the fug knows? I feel bad for poor Hunt.

Yosh had to fill in for bakhtiari and did fine in GB. Nothing spectacular but held his own and had some good stretches. I think he’ll be able to handle the ATL pass rush this week. The injuries suck but we aren’t in dire straits quite yet.

We still suck though, no changing that 🙂

What about trying him at right tackle and going after a more prototype left tackle?

(I'm talking future seasons, of course; no such changes like that are possible this year)

We will see how it goes. I don't have super high hopes.

If you are trying to develop a player and make him good, constantly creating turmoil usually leads to more struggles.

The situation is actually finally stable so I really don't understand any thought of tinkering here. He's playing quite well, finally.

This seems like Madden-esque tinkering without a real solid purpose.

Well we obviously aren't even thinking about moving him to guard, otherwise we wouldn't have paid so much for guards in the offseason. As for taking Moton's spot at some point, that's down the line, and only if we draft a tackle who is presumably better than Ickey on the left. I doubt it's the plan right now because we're getting stable LT play from Ickey. Honestly, it just goes to show, yet again, that giving guys time to develop is a positive.

    • I suspect Coker can be better, but I haven't seen much evidence of Horn actually being better. Nuanced route running should not be taken lightly. If Horn ever reached the highest height that Renfrow has, I will be surprised. Coker may be able to do it, but it's certainly not a guarantee. I realize that Renfrow has been out of the game a few years, but I have seen evidence of him being his old self. That's also no guarantee, but I'm not certain that we'll ever be able to see any of these guysbteach their ceiling under the current circumstances.
    • Renfrow basically is exactly who we thought he was.   He is a niche slot WR. But he doesn't fit the O or Bryce though.  Renfrow needs a pretty good QB and scheme to be of use.  Bryce Young flat can't even hit him when he is open.  Folks saying Renfrow hasn't been good or washed are letting Bryce defense get in the way.  It's also just denying reality we watched on the field of him being wide open over and over and Bryce not being able to hit the broad side of a barn.  He probably has the best hands on the team though.  He is the best short/classic slot route runner on the team and it's not really close.  but we need to be developing Tmac, XL, Coker, Tremayne and Horn.  I'd say only 2 guys are technically better than Renfrow right now in a vaccum and that is Tmac and Coker.
    • That's basically how I see it. He's obviously not washed. I've watched at least three vids showing how he was open and Bryce missing him. I've also seen evidence of him still putting people in a blender. But, if Bryce is going to miss him and Canales isn't going to use him, we may as well see what the young guys can do.
