If anyone wonders what he would’ve looked like with the Panthers last year with a shaky offensive line and no weapons .  Last night’s stat sheet vs Jets

And yes he still looks the part  but just shows you it is a fine line between success and failure in the NFL.  Texans are obviously a better run team and will still win their division due to defense and a run game but Stroud is definitely in a bit of a sophomore slump

It could be seen as a sophomore slump, but just as Bryce Young struggled last year, Stroud is showing that it’s hard to survive in a broken environment — a weak O-line and lack of weapons.

I don't disagree with you, but as has been noted many times here, as the franchise QB he should be able to overcome that. I think it's normal to struggle with so much stacked against you though.

Sure, except Stroud has the ability to stretch the field with deep passes. He did that often last night with ease, but couldn’t connect on many due to being flustered by the defense. BY9 gets flustered and can’t throw screens, let alone even think about any deeper passes. Stroud would’ve changed the franchise and done more with the situation last year. My thought at least.

the hope is that last year showed tepper that he needed to step back from football decisions. There’s a positive in most situations and maybe we’ll see a new tepper in the near future.

I wouldn't focus on a Thursday games too much. They are the the worst product pushed by the NFL, well except the Panthers. That and the Europe games are such a substandard product but even those get a full week.

I would still take a player with the ability to play in the NFL over a guy who peaked in school any day and even on a dead end team like the Panthers.

The cope that Stroud would struggle here too is absolutely insufferable at this point in time.

It's better to just move on than continue with this charade.

Yeah its really dumb. Stroud still wouldve looked 10 times better than Bryce last year and of course we would be in much better position this year.

When it is immediately apparent, and do I mean immediately apparent, that you have no way to stretch the field, you are fuged. We have been fuged since the first snap Young took.

Never forget: Designated Hail Mary QB. What else do you really need to know?

Designated QB sneak QB too but that's another issue.

edit: so, yes Stroud compares favorably to Young and would on any NFL field with the same team around him.

    • Is there any real statistical evidence of this beyond anecdotal things like washed vets signing with the Chiefs or Pats every once in a while?  it doesn't really hold up.  Everyone gets paid in FA.  Everyone gets paid on 2nd contracts.  Its just how it is.  Do you think Icky would make less in FA than he would with a Panther extension?  Is that what's being implied?
    • Fitts fuged up the Burns contract by not taking the trade. He lost his leverage at that point. That level offer was for a top 3 complete edge rusher which Burns never was. It should never have been a debate. Take the Rams offer if we weren't going to pay Burns that type of contract.  Icky should get paid. Where it will get interesting is when/if Bryce demands an extension after this year. If he follows the trend of 1st round QBs drafted and immediately starting for their team, and still with them, end of 3rd year is extension time. If Bryce demands his 45-50m per season and Morgan/Tepper pays it, I see Icky starting for someone else and us looking to the draft or FA market for a new LT.
    • Ickey has earned a good new contract obviously. We do need to draft a RT maybe in the 2026 draft.
