No way I’m hoping we lose this game. We can lose all the rest but I want this one bad. I absolutely despise them.

So your hatred of the Cowboys is stronger than your love of the Panthers?

Being competitive like we have the last few weeks, but still losing the game is 100% the best thing for this franchise long term.

A single meaningless win in a lost season isn't going to give the players or staff some newfound confidence that will carry over into next season and help the team, hell, a couple late wins wouldn't have any affect on that at this point.

Drafting in the Top 5 vs even say 10th can be a game changer 3 years later.  No, not all draft picks are guaranteed to turn into stars, but if you're picking in the Top 5, especially if 2 QB's get overdrafted before you, you're leaving with one of the 2 or 3 best players in the draft class and have a better chance of them turning into a superstar than whoever you're getting 5-7 picks later.

I've never understood why people can't see the bigger picture at this point in a season and root against your team because you know that's really what is best for the franchise's long term future.  If we were already sitting in that 10-12 range and don't have as many holes in the roster, then yea, you root for the wins to build upon the next season (see the Lions 2 years ago), but that's not the case for us.

It's only meaningless to fans that are looking for our next draft pick. NFL players don't spend their lives working to be the best to intentionally play 50% to ensure a high draft pick.

Each week when the whistle blows I want to see us win. I am not upset too much if we give a good effort and lose but I want us to win. The Cowboys are a Hated team in Panther nation and hoping we lose to them shows you're not much of a Panther fan.

so the rest of the season you're sitting starters. that's how you do it?

or do you intentionally call up bad plays?

or do you pull players aside and tell them to half ass it?

again, just trying to figure out how this tanking thing works.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
