I really don't understand why they're still playing Cousins other than the $$$ they're paying him. You panic drafted Penix for a reason. Play him.

Or it could be that they're letting him get time to learn on the bench like a lot of new QBs need to do.

I think it would be fair to say if Byrce had spent his 1st year on the bench instead of being thrust into the starting lineup before he was ready, this season may have been quite different.

Agreed and it's probably a smart move.

So Cousins is good in Minnesota, Darnold sucks.  Cousins goes to Atlanta, he sucks.  Darnold goes to Minnesota, and he is good.

Likely the system he is in and the team. That is why a team should look at Darnolds full body of work and ask themselves if he is a true system QB that will regress a lot with another team. Darnold should not get a big payday.
Like Foles did when he left the Eagles. Dude won a Super Bowl and then a mid QB got a big contract and Foles sucked.

Baker sucks in Cleveland, Carolina--but look good in LA and then Tampa Bay.  It is the system--the team--more than people realize.  Goff sucks in LA to a lesser degree and is probably headed to a Super Bowl in Detroit and is solid in Detroit.  Rogers is a hall of famer in GB but in NY, he has been terrible.  Geno Smith sucked in NY (Jets) and is doing well in Seattle.  Russell Wilson is great in Seattle, Bad for the most part in Denver, and is better in Pittsburgh.  D. Watson was good in Houston and is now bad in Cleveland.  It is more system, play calling, surrounding talent, defense, etc. than people realize.

    • Saw a replay of that Kucci save in the first period. That was a crazy good save and unbelievable awareness to realize that the bruins skater was coming open from the back boards
    • Across the league, many of the most productive wide receivers are doing their best work out of the slot. Rams WR Puka Nacua and Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba are perfect examples, with both putting up strong numbers this season thanks to their impact coming from the slot. Teams are clearly figuring out that placing their top playmakers inside creates major advantages against today’s defenses. I’m glad Canales has picked up on that as well and put T-Mac in position to have his best game yet. Especially against the Falcons, who arguably had one of the better pass defenses in the NFL prior to yesterday Hope to see that continue. Dave's still relatively young in the coaching world and is clearly still trying to find a good formula. Yesterday's gameplan with the YAC and impact all across the board was an encouraging sign for the future.
    • I was really happy to see XL have success and make an impact. I’ve been one of his biggest haters, but at the same time there’s very few players I want to see succeed more than XL. He’s a good dude who’s been through a lot. I hope he can keep building off this game.
