How did they mess up so bad with Mayfield and Darnold,

We also had McDermott , Beane, and Brady from the Bills here and ruined that too.

Joe Brady was actually really good between the 20s here.  Lot of dudes trended above their norms with him.  What Joe Brady lacked as a newb playcaller....was proper leadership above him to help steer him.  As Teddy pointed out.

Both teams also have steady to good defenses. Something we don't have at all here.

You should be able to win games if you can score 24 points.

I mean this respectfully. But what team have you been watching????

We are currently 29th in passing yards per game and 32 out of 32 in total yards per game.

We are also 28th in points per game.

This after investing 150 million in the OL in free agency trading up in the first and second rounds for offensive skill players and hiring an offensive minded head coach. All to benefit Bryce Young.

We can talk about the defense all day long but whatever we do with that side of the ball it is crystal clear that the offensive side of the ball has to do much much better in what is ultimately an offensive league.

Not to mention the draft picks on O... Everyone saying we need to get Bryce more weapons needs to realize we did. The OL is the best "weapon" an offense CAN have, and we added skill players... Sure I'd love to add another WR if it's BPA... But we ultimately need to invest in defense and bring in some qb competition

Baker lost all his confidence, dude was terrible in Carolina. Sam is playing good right now but I’m positive you can drop any QB into the situation and they would put up similar numbers, last season Cousins was leading the league in TD before he got hurt.

And for those saying Darnold had nobody around him, he had Moore and CMC and Robby Anderson coming off a career year with Teddy he also had Joe Brady. Bryce would kill to have a fraction of that talent. In 22 when we traded CMC our running game was top notch.

People looking at the offense negatively need to step back a minute and remember that expectations were mighty low this year. We have a lot of young guys and rookies. And our qb is a newby in the system he is in with a new coach who has never been a head coach and signal caller combined.  This is a work in progress so only an approach which recognizes incremental improvement is valid for best measuring where we are versus  demanding immediate success after a 2-15 campaign last year.

Typical Panther fan listing a bunch of no bodies other than CMC who got hurt that year so he was a moot inclusion and DJ Moore who was also wasted and actually had his best year in CHI b/c ofc.

Robby Anderson lol or should we say Robbie "Chosen" PAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH
Chosen for the bench I guess what a joke

Mike Evans/Chris Godwin and JJ/Addison can we please get Bryce or whoever our next QB is some decent weapons. Oh yeah bit better play calling wouldn't hurt either

Evans and Godwin are good but the Bucs offense is balanced. They ran and passed all over the Chargers last weekend to the tune of 506 total yards. And Baker Mayfield is hot and cold at best. But he can and will make all the throws. Overall their roster is not that very good though. We saw that firsthand against them. We could replicate some of what they're doing with the right QB and another offensive piece.

The Vikings are loaded and Justin Jefferson is behind only Jamar Chase in receiving yards. If you want that level of production it isn't going to happen with Bryce Young behind center regardless of who we put at WR. Justin Jefferson would absolutely be losing his cool here if Bryce was his QB.

    • BPA comes with the caveat of positional value and roster need included. Never let the latter two completely overwhelm the first, however. Our FO seems to lean heavily into "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE POTENTIALZ!!!" as a fourth category and often it seems as the #1 overall pursuit. With as many needs as this roster has, I am not going to get upset over a real roster upgrade at WR versus some reach at EDGE or whatever other extreme needs we have. Overall, I want to see the roster get better. There is far, far, FAR more than one offseason of work left to get this roster into the top 10-12 in the NFL. That should be the goal.
    • I would say we are more likely to get smoked by Tampa, blast Seattle and then perplexingly lose to Tampa again.
    • In general, Dave Canales tends to target his TE's the least frequently of any position group(WR/RB/TE) during his three years of running an NFL offense.  However, if you notice this percentage has crept up over time. 2025 is the first year that TE has eclipsed RB in target percentage. Production has also gone up in 2025. This is a percentage of total output in each category. Canales has always used a very TE heavy offense. In fact, on average his offensive formations are 2 or 3 TE sets roughly 80% of all offensive formations. So, the question may be, with this uptick in total TE output, could an elite or top tier TE make a significant impact? I believe there is some evidence this may be the case. Here are a look at TE snaps and Cade Otten specifically. These are the snap percentages for all rostered TE's in every Dave Canales offense. The bolded cell is Cade Otten's whopping 96.46% of total snap counts in the single year he was in the Dave Canales offense in Tampa. This was overwhelmingly his career high. His production was higher with less utilization in 2024, however.    In conclusion, while I don't anticipate ever seeing a top 5 producing/Pro Bowl caliber TE performance in a Dave Canales offense, there does appear to be some evidence that an actual upgrade in our TE room would actually lead to increasing overall offensive efficiency. I think Otten's utilization rate does indicate that the splitting of time between our relatively even TE group would cede significant snaps if a far superior option were available. I believe this is an area we could(and should have this past offseason/draft) made a more concerted effort to get a dynamic TE threat, after the apparent failure that J. Sanders appears to have been.
