The great Joe Person: 4 Things I'm watching as Panthers prepare for important offseason

Recommended Posts

1.Will there be changes to the defensive staff?

This also could potentially be worded: How pervasive will the changes to the defensive staff be? David Tepper notably retained Frank Reich’s entire defensive staff for Canales — led by Ejiro Evero, who was blocked by Tepper from interviewing for other coordinator positions. Tepper has stayed behind the scenes during the seventh consecutive losing season since he bought the team. But it’s hard to envision Tepper running it back with the same defensive staff, which didn’t have ties to Canales in the first place. The Panthers already have established franchise highs for rushing yards (2,830) and points (496) allowed, and will finish among the worst teams in NFL history in both categories. Pro Bowl cornerback Jaycee Horn said early-season injuries — to Pro Bowl defensive end Derrick Brown and linebacker Shaq Thompson — hurt the defense’s chemistry

2.How can Morgan best help Young this offseason?

3. Will the Panthers pay both corners?

4. Are the Panthers about to turn over their specialists group?

Those four items read like clickbait titles.

It's nothing short of horrifying that it was written as if it's a foregone conclusion that all of the coaching staff decisions are Tepper's alone. If he keeps doing this we're going to keep losing.

Let Morgan be the GM. If he fails fire him and try again. Let Canales be the HC. If he fails fire him and try again. But stay the fug out of the football decisions behind that.

I wish he'd let Canales and Morgan make the choice on the D side...I mean they're the ones whose job is at risk if the D doesn't make a turnaround (in the long term, multiple seasons way - short term they're obviously safe as long as the team overall starts improving )

I hit submit too soon. I went back and added some more. In short, yes. LOL

    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
    • I don't really care about your post at all. I just saw the direction of the discussion and this snippet from an article I read earlier in the day was a good spot to put non-Panthers info. I mostly don't care about the players personal lives. That's off the field/personal poo. Not really any of my business.  I also don't know him personally so what would be the point of congratulating him outside basically attempting to draw attention to myself like so many in the social media/internet realm.
