Andy Dalton Re-signed

Something to be said about culture as well. The offense started moving in the right direction as the year went on. If Bryce digresses this year, we don't have enough talent around (insert your backup qb choice here) to matter anyway. Seems to me Dalton has helped Bryce, and has helped the offense. I think the coaching staff is saying having a positive, experienced guy (on the cheap) that knows the offense and has helped Bryce through his struggles was more important than bringing in competition.

Dumb move. He isn't really playable anymore, he fell apart after 1 game this season. If it's for more than vet minimum it's a waste of cap and roster space. Just pay him to coach and free up a roster spot.

The start to another disappointing offseason is underway in Pantherland again.

I feel close to this as well. That's starter safety moneyz and guess who needs two of them along with 15 other spots....

But this doesn't hurt the high I have after a new strength coach.

Any backup vet QB is going to cost around what Dalton got if not more. All NFL teams have to pay “starting safety” money for a backup unless you roll the dice on an unproven rookie. If we didn’t give Dalton “starting safety money” we would’ve given it to someone else. It’s just the reality of the position

I mean, the QB position is finally heading in the right direction.  not the time to stir the pot.  Nope, skeptics, you are not getting any rookie who would be better as a backup than Andy. Not many teams win with QB2.

I still say if a Rourke, Will Howard, Gabriel, or McCord falls into day 3, you take him.

    • What people fail to understand is Lance had a college career that lasted about as long as teenage boys first intercourse.  To say he was raw was an understatement.  So much so that even a QB whisperer had a difficult time molding him into a polished NFL product on top of multiple nagging injuries.  The dud is in his mid-twenties, finally healthy and little miles on the tread.  Low risk, high reward.  If he's available, it would be stupid not to kick the tires.  It took Darnold and Mayfield to hit their 3rd or 4th team for things to finally click.  This is Lance's 3rd stop, I believe.  It's either time for it to click for him or be relegated to a full time backup. Roll the dice....
    • Wrong.  At least we put a QB sneak in the play book and and add plays over 20 yards.
    • I don’t know if people realize that Evan’s was one of the top TE prospects in college  before having some horrible injuries. I wanna say he had two major injuries in back to back seasons which limited his play and dropped his draft stock.
