Is everyone looking at Walker as an ILB? I was viewing him as an outside guy, moving around and trying to get into the backfield.

He's a gadget guy imo and needs to go to a team that knows how to use him. I don't think Evero and our vanilla defense will.  See Chinn.

I would say ILB on 1st down, sometimes 2nd. Edge on the others.

Walker on 1st, 2nd as a ILB rush edge on 3rd or long. Luvu pulled it off.

But for a top 10 pick I would want more of a full time edge if I was making the pick..

I think he would add to Evero's system as well.  I forget what famous coach said, "You don't force players into your system, you develop a system that maximizes the success of your players."

I am looking forward to the combine--it seems things start rolling afterwards.

Certainly wasn’t one of our coaches. I sort of a picture him being used like Luvu. If accurate, and if we can grab some defensive Hawg Mollies, then having a guy like that to knife into the backfield for a TFL or Sack will be huge.

I’m not sold on Tevin

No offense to anyone, but to me, he was a 3rd rd and he plays like it

Yes I get it is a team sport but I honestly do not see anything about this young player that is more than just a guy

then again, Evero’s defense does seem to have that impact on players

I'm still bummed we passed on Wilson because of his past injuries, but proceeded to draft an actual injured RB.  #Panthers logic

This comparison makes no sense. Chinn was a DB that could play LB, while Walker is an ILB who can play at any LB position.  He closer to Luvu than Chinn

I disagree.  I don't think he's exactly close to a Luvu.  Luvu was pretty much a true edge that had played inside.   Walker you're going to have to be a little more creative with.  He's not going to really set an edge, he's great in the open.  He gets pushed around a little on the inside and when lineman gets their hands on him he's stopped most of the time, but like I said even though he can't set an edge he can make plays in the run game if he's free.

I think this solidifies Jalon Walker as the pick tbh. Graham and Carter will most certainly be gone. DM probably feels he got burnt by Leggette (still time), so I doubt he goes Mcmillan. Anyways, JW is an off ball LB or edge rusher. It's a win win even if he's not the edge player he's thought to be he's a very athletic inside backer. DM I think is going to lean backer too because it's what he knows best. Would not rule out trading back, and if that's the case I see him going Jihaad Campbell. Also, Walker is a Salisbury kid, the writing is on the wall.

Tmac seems to be dropping like rock now for whatever reason

Chinn is 6'3" 220, Luvu is 6'3 235, Walker is 6'2 245. He is nothing like Chinn. He is not a gadget player, he is a true ILB that can rush the passer and play edge on passing downs.  He is also a leader, which we definitely need on defense, especially with Shaq gone.

    • I see Bryce's development this way: He improved when his supporting cast improved.  TMac and Dowdle saved his arse last year, but in fairness, most good QBs have good WRs and good RBs--and good OLs.   The 2025 OL underperformed, actually. They were above average, but they should have been elite if you consider the salary cap.   As soon as we signed Lewis and Hunt, I started thinking, "That's not sustainable.  With Ickey about to get paid a LT salary, Moton and Hunt grabbling $50m per season combined, and Lewis around $17m--that would be nearly $100m and the Center just walked.  Yikes.  What does that mean?  Rico walks, Mays walks, and we do not have a top 5 WR on a second contract.  We do not have an elite TE, and only 1 is on a modest second contract. And now Bryce will demand $50m for his incremental rise to mediocrity?   So when we sign Bryce, we will get weaker at other positions.  Hunt, Moton, maybe Ickey and Lewis, will all be casualties--that is the right move regardless (not sure yet about Ickey, but he was not elite) Bryce is one lucky, entitled camper.  No competition since being drafted, and he lost his job for a while to the aging clipboard holder.  Now we are bringing in UDFAs and busts to compete with him.
    • Probably not.  If we are taking a QB, it would be a prospect to replace Bryce and not a flyer type player.  I can't say for sure, but I doubt he would have cracked the top 3-4 QBs even if he were to play this coming season.
    • The Giants, Cardinals  and Dolphins should have moved on, but they didn't and ended up cutting their QB early into a monster second contract and had to eat a TON of dead cap money.
