DK Metcalf Requesting Trade

I am starting to get worried about Horn. Metcalf is only 27.  If I had to choose, I think I would be looking to trade Horn for Metcalf.

Honestly, its a tough call here. But if SEA agrees to this kind of offer… i think i would also lean towards Metcalf. Don’t think the Panthers would do that let alone if SEA would agree to it though.

Our secondary gets terrifying without Horn. But then again, history indicates he'll probably miss half the season anyway.

But make this trade and you can pretty much just hyper focus on D in free agency and draft.

I think he should get paid but not highest paid

Id be willing to bet if we pay him top DB money he doesn’t play half the year

just saying his track record ain’t good. Hope I'm wrong.

Guys generally do not get better and/or more durable after signing for huge money.

Holy poo. These kind of guys in their prime just do not hit the market often. You HAVE to go get this done. I don’t want to hear anything about cap, you go figure that out and make it work. Go get him Dan.

Metcalf makes our offense playoff caliber. Only thing we’d need in the draft is a late round RB to go with Chubba. Can focus everything else on defense.

I’m on record as being strongly in Horn’s corner and said already that he’s going to want top CB money… similarly, y’all better buckle up for what Ickey is going to want. I love Horn’s game. He brings it and can play the run.

A straight up trade with DK… maaaan, now that’s tough, but DK is the bigger game breaker between the 2.

Who would I rather they back up the Brinks truck on? DK all day. He’s just a more valuable piece. A QB can throw away from Horn’s side and still dominate a game. DK is a straight up problem for ANY DB in the league and a threat to score on any play.

Makes too much sense, which means it probably won't happen. But from this thread...

1. Get DK.

2. If it's between Horn and DK, DK it is. DK has some minor injuries every now and then, but he plays. Horn is Horn. Last year wasn't the norm, and if he wants top 3 money? Shiiiiiiiiiit. I'm all for paying him a fair deal and want him here, but tagging and/or trading him becomes the play if he won't budge.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
