Trading Down Could be a Gold Mine in This Draft!!

This is why it's probably going to be hard to trade down. This draft is fairly light on top tier talent but pretty deep in talent of that next tier down. I don't think there's going to be a lot of teams clamoring to move up and numerous teams might be entertaining moving down. Not a good market to trade down if that's the case.

The Cowboys (Jerry Jones) falling in love with Jeanty feels like the best bet but from what I'm seeing a lot of NFL talent evaluators see little if any daylight between Jeanty and Hampton.

Exactly what I was going to post (1st paragraph) after reading through some posts. We are probably picking 8th, hope we get it right.

I'll admit, I'm late to 1 prospect that's got my attention. Matthew Golden looks like a young Antonio Brown to me. If we trade back  a few, I wouldn't mind him at all.

Did Antonio Brown  look like Antonio Brown in college? He had to have been a 6th Rounder for a reason

Idk.. I heard Antonio character was always something but Golden looks like the good version of Antonio  in Pittsburgh.

That's a good point. Then look for us to trade up in R2 imo, especially if we go offense with pick 8

Been saying this for a month:  If a team falls in love with an OT, they will make an offer to move up.

I don't mean to make this a mock draft thread particularly,  but every time I do a mock I have been investigating the talent that goes off the board between picks 8 and our low 2nd rounder pick 57.

There is a gargantuan amount of talent still left on the board in the top half of the 2nd round every time I do one. Losing our original 2nd round pick to the Bears as the last pick of the Bryce trade stings badly .

I'm particularly looking at elite players like Carson Schwesinger (LB), Luther Burden (WR), Matthew Golden (WR), Maxwell Hairston (CB) , Nick Scourton , Landon Jackson, Donavan Ezeraku (all DEs/OLBs) .

The sweet spot in this draft really feels like pick 15 to 40 - ish. This is why the Bears should be making bank with this draft. I don't know how realistic a trade down is from 8, but if we could pick up any teams higher 2nd rounder and still grab their 1st? We'd be cooking with gas man.

Say for example we get Tet McMillan at pick 8, if you wait all the way to 57 you stand the chance of not getting any impact pass rushers in this draft. And I don't think this team can afford that.

I'd personally love for them to take a break from drafting wrs in R1 or R2 (i think we've taken one in the top 2 rounds in the majority of the past few years), and stick to repairing the nfls worse defense in history (in terms of total points against iirc, or was it yards?

Also included my most recent mock as an example . Don't put too much into the  late round selections lol

Especially if Donovan Ezeraku or Mike Green falls to R2. OH BOY.

Somebody needs to fall to us. Do not reach on a pick. Trade back. I like this draft.

I do not yet trust our people to be savvy enough to pull off a trade that doesn’t screw us in the first and/or second round. With things looking like they might be coming together, they absolutely HAVE TO hit on a stud in round 1 and hopefully 2…  and hopefully hopefully unearth a diamond in later rounds.

If they are to create a window, this draft has to go gang busters. This coming season looks promising, however, they have to go in to the 2026 season as the clear favorite to win the South.

‘Windows’ happen for traditionally bad teams with the culmination of 2-3 really good drafts IN A ROW, snagging a good head coach and a few key free agent acquisitions. Busting on first and second rounds will destroy the chance of this occuring. Cokers don’t come around very frequently and haven’t even drafted.

There are contracts coming up in the next 2-3 years at the most expensive positions on the entire team. Bryce and Ickey. I know, not for a while, but good franchises have a long lens. If it comes to crunch time and Ickey hasn’t evolved in his pass blocking, do they drop mega $$ in his lap? Have they groomed someone that can step up? Do they happen in to a franchise LT and put press On Ickey to step his game up or he becomes trade bait?

In closing, at 8, screw need. No trade. Pick the guy who has future all pro dna.

I'm hoping this or all 3 OL guys still being available and someone wanting their pick of the litter. But if fans know its a good idea i like to think GM's do too.  Talent from 6-25 are all close it seems like.

The Athletic Football pod suggested that San fran may want to move up for a tackle and we could maybe go to 11 and pick up a couple of mid round picks.  I dont really follow san fran too much but I guess they are in need of oline help

That theory would greatly depend on which team between us and SF would take a tackle or possibly trade with someone wanting a tackle as well.

    • there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.  it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying
    • I'd actually like to see Cherelus get a fair shot to win the job in camp. Wallace is decent in drop zone coverage, but he gets abused in the play action game and is often times out of position in the run game. It might just be me, but I swear every time I watch Wallace play, I see multiple plays a game were it looks like he's just trying to be blocked. Watching Cherelus last year he at least looked like he was trying to hit someone on every play. Wallace plays like a LB who doesn't trust what he sees and it makes him passive and cautious versus Cherelus who regardless of if his decision is right or wrong goes at it 100%.
    • Agreed.  Hasn’t happened to me either, but I feel very strongly about it.  That’s not just one of the worst things a woman could do to a man, it’s a power inherent to only women and is one of the worst things a HUMAN being can do to another.  A man can’t “hide” a pregnancy or maternity.  It’s impossible.  And that sucks for anyone that has to go through that. I always got a weird vibe off her and just found her very unlikeable.  Annoying even.  I’ve always been good at reading people and there was just something about her to me that was off-putting, somewhere under the surface.  And here we are…  she is despicable.
