JOE PERSON: the sense around league circles is Panthers will take Jalon Walker @8

Has she told us WHY she thinks this?  She may have, but I dont recall or didnt see it

I would like for her to react to Morgan's comments about drafting productive college players.  Does she she Mykel as "productive?"

I think he had one less sack than Jalon playing in a position that is much harder to get them. He also has previous seasons with some production as well. No one at UGA is getting a large number of sacks.

I am going to trust them.  I see why they might have drafted XL (I did not want him)  but he had 1 season of production and we all knew he was raw.  Brooks was in rehab---in my view, first year GMs do not need to roll the dice like that---take the sure bets in round 1-gamble later.

I agree, but I’m not sure there are many sure bets in this draft.

It’s Walker

Most likely with an outside chance of his teammate Williams.  Anybody other than those two would absolutely shock me at #8 (unless Graham falls).  If somehow we manage to move out of that spot, all bets are off.

I'm thinking:

Walker-80%

Williams-14%

Graham-1% (solely based on availability)

Who’s the remaining 5%?

it seems split on whether or not we like Walker or Williams at pick 8 tbh

It really doesn't seem all that split to be honest. Kinda felt that way a month or so ago but all the recent smoke has been pointing toward Walker > Williams. Does that actually mean anything? I guess we'll know soon enough.

Honestly kinda hoping for just a massive curveball pick out of the blue just to enjoy the Huddle reaction. LOL

Be careful what you wish for.

    • Terrible business decision.  Lazy negotiating.
    • I think GM's are more upset than owners Owners spend the same amount of money every year as it's a hard cap with a floor minimum too.  It doesn't really change anything for them (other than possibly make things more difficult on the team in general). But it's the GM's who need to negotiate these contracts who are really going to be pissed, if you're a skill position player that goes in the 2nd round now, you're going to be asking for this, and the higher you're drafted and/or the more unexpected it was for you to not go in the 1st, the stronger your case will be to insist on it.
    • 1 main reason i LOVE this move is because how many times did we see the Rivera or Fox era play older guys who honestly shouldn't have been on the field only to be put there for seniority. Holding a younger guy back from developing and stifling their progression!    This shows me DM is saying fug that! Lets get these young talented guys reps and ready to fn roll!  Coker was great example of that last year trading Johnson mid season.  Having a GM who was also a player i think helps with that mindset. Understanding father time is undefeated and you have to go with younger, faster players even when they don't have a ton of experience.  Love it and each move DM is doing this offseason is getting me to forget how much i hate our owner and back to feeling good about this team. Lets sign a Safety and rock this division this year!
