I would do the minor trade up without hesitation.  I’m not sure I trust Morgan to execute deftly on the ‘big swing’ for Ez or Emmanwori…

Such a silly statement

Honestly, if you compare Ez, Swinson and Princely to the edge going in the first, there’s really not a big gap at all (minus Carter).

Even when considering upside and these guys all have the production to back it up. Not to mention better fits with the length you want.

I'm okay with waiting until one of those three gets taken and then aggressively trying to move up to secure who is preferred of the remaining two. I really like Swinson if that's the case.

I'm also okay with just pulling the trigger and moving up for Ez :3

in the 2nd i would try to trade up & draft CB Will Johnson & I already know everyone wants an edge rusher however another really good player still on the board right now is TE Mason Taylor.both of these players might even turn out to quiet possibly be the best CB or/& TE in this draft...

I promise you if you draft for need/fit you will not have nearly as good of a team in the end as if you had took the best players .& like I have said before need/fit is for free agency not the draft .& another thing a 2nd round rookie edge rusher is going to have little to hardly any impact on this teams success this upcoming season an edge rusher takes time to develop into a legitimate starter in the NFL...just saying

I'd be willing to package the 2nd round pick with something else (2nd round next year?) and see if the Bengals are willing to trade Hendrickson. Yeah, he's going to cost, but it would fill the DE role nicely.

We don't need a DE, we need an 3-4 edge rusher/OLB.

I know, this guy is 5th round at best but were talking Newton here.

He's got a grade in the second round, around 60th ranking based on most boards available to the public. Maybe a little higher on Team boards.

Or a player (Zavala; still on a rookie contract) and a later round pick to get up to the top of the second.  Not likely but Zavala is probably as good as any G drafted in the second or later.  I can’t think of any other player that would have perceived value for a trade up that we would be willing to part with.

I don't like giving up future picks on players that you may need that future pick to replace. This team is not in any condition to afford giving up drafts picks in its current state. When they build a team that can have back to back playoff appearances then we can talk.

Kind of the reason I was wanting a trade back, but that's water under the bridge now.

    • I have said if you out even an average QB into the offense we are averaging 25+ points a game. But that will never happen with Bryce under center.
    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
