Joe Burrow was a borderline top 200 recruit. Arch Manning was everyone's #1.  And Dwayne Haskins was was a top 15 NFL draft pick. Ohio State never signed Burrow expecting him to start for them, then he transferred to LSU and absolutely exploded as a super senior.

Let's not move the goal posts here, You are leaving out the fact that Quinn Ewers was himself a #1 overall prospect.... you measured that by calling him a 7th round pick (he would have been much better served to leave lasg year not this year would have been a 2nd at least) but your also jumping around from college success to NFL draft status (while not including the fact both of those guys were massive busts)

If you look at the dead money on their cap, its already pretty high.  Lattimore alone is 30 million.  Most of their bigger contracts don't seem to buy them much in terms of trading or cutting.  Best to play with what you have this year, and then start doing the cuts after this season.

We might get to see Taysom Hill at qb a lot.  🙂

Would love nothing more to see Taysom Hill get exposed once and for all.

Yeah, Ewers was a #1 QB but he was disappointing from the jump. I'm not jumping around, I'm just putting your bad comps into perspective. You keep saying comps are everywhere but there really aren't comps for #1 QB prospect, especially the most hyped #1 QB prospect on a long time, riding the pine for two years behind a 7th round pick.

Willing to bet he comes back next year. I think the Saints brass and fans don’t like him and Carr doesn’t like them back.

Yea this kinda makes sense for both sides.  Saints get relief and tank.  He misses the year anyways.  Comes back and signs with a new team.

*a new contender in the Arch Manning sweepstakes enters*

Can anyone remember this much hype for a guy who rode the pine behind a 7th round pick for two years? It's pretty wild. If his last name was anything other than Manning everyone would've forgotten about this kid by now and he'd have to be reintroduced this fall as the #1 QB recruit from a few years back.

Those NIL deals are going to ruin sports altogether.

Why would Arch Manning bother taking a snap in the NFL if he already has that kind of money?

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
