Answers to the QB equation

When Sanders fell to the 5th round, the team should have picked him with 140.

"We need a backup 2026 when Daltons contract ends."....

But the intention to let him compete with the new first round QB pick 2026 if BY failed. If BY show up, could have traded Sanders for a cheerleader or whatever. 5th round is nothing.

- There are no known potential franchise qbs on other teams depthchartz waiting to get an opportunity. Roll the dice on draft picks. Should pick a QB each year until you get it right..

OL and QB every year

The continuing issue that people want to ignore is that Bryce can't operate well in muddy pockets which are consistent in the nfl. Its not a coincidence he had the best game of his career against the falcons because they couldn't get anywhere near him. Its just to bad your not gonna get that every single game. You can stack the o line and pay them the highest salary all you want to keep bryce comfortable. Its still gonna get muddy in games.

By every single account, Bryce's had a great camp, including joint practices, after finishing the final 3 games with 10 Tds and no interceptions.

Trying to extrapolate what you've written above out of 4 preseason dropbacks is wild AF to me...

And one of those was a perfect throw that was dropped...

Bryce finished last year tearing up the league out of messy pockets. Thats where he's at his playmaking best- playing out of structure.

Your statement above is completely detached from reality.

Bryce did struggle with "messy pockets" if you could call it that as a rookie. Though I think most people reviewing film would call it a complete pocket collapse most of the time.

And this Oline was great at run blocking last year, but they still had their moments in pass blocking that sucked.

Do you watch any film? Did you not see all the TDs he threw from "messy pockets" last year, especially towards the end of the season??

This is wild stuff for real...

Not one single coach is making decisions in the preseason to placate the fanbase.

I wanted another series too to be clear, but Canales was super clear in the presser that what he saw in the joint practice was much more important in the grand scheme of things.

31 other NFL coaches would say the same thing.

They might say the same thing. However, the other 31 coaches did not have their practices closed to the fans and then lay an egg on tv.

I agree overall with what you said.

But the idea the front office just went with Dalton when there were obvious better backup QBs isn't backed by fact as I see it.

Who do you think they should have brought in? Andy has a much better resume than most backup QBs.

I think Panthers fans are (rightfully) concerned by what weve seen in preaseson.

But still, look at this list... I bet half the teams in the league would consider Dalton, even as is, as a potential upgrade.

https://www.si.com/nfl/2025-ranking-nfl-backup-quarterbacks

I mean take a look at this list... Arguments could be made for some of these guys, but when you look at it, you realize Andy ain't that bad.

Still, though, I do think this needs to be Andy's last year and we need to look younger.

Immediately I would like to see us try to upgrade at QB3.

Me personally I would have opted for one of the younger veterans. Even someone early thirties. You could check both the mentorship box and have someone who could play for an extended period of time and still get some much needed developmental reps for your young offensive players in the event of unforseen circumstances. Because that's one thing this franchise cannot afford beyond more losing. They can't afford to waste another season with either poor or no development for their young roster. It's waste on top of waste. And it's negligence.

I hear you. Hopefully Bryce stays healthy and Father Time gives Dalton a reprieve.

I agree we need a different/better plan next year

Since the Giants have Wilson as their starter and Dart has looked good so far, I think we should actually try to trade for Jameis

If Bryce were to go down, he wouldn't be good enough to lead us to too many wins and screw up our draft position for a new QB next year.  But at the same time, he has the arm to make any throw on the field, and thus he will be able to help keep up the development of our young WR room.

Also, if we then suck, a team with Jameis and XL in the same locker room would be content gold, we'd be hilarious off the field at least.

Genuinely don't know what their WR depth chart looks like, but maybe a Moore for Jameis trade before cut downs?

Bryce is fine I have no worries about him for week 1. However, what I am concerned about is that Andy Dalton seems to have fallen off a cliff and now with his injured Elbow we have a huge question mark at the backup QB spot because there should be no scenario where Jack Plummer should ever see the field again.

I'd like to see us bring in another veteran in at least maybe someone like Jameis or if he doesn't make the team in Tampa, I'd really like to see us to bring back Teddy Bridgewater.

All I want out of this season is Bryce to show us he's the one or for Bryce to be complete ass and get us a pick that might get us the one. That's it that's all.

a repeat of the last 10 games from last year would be absolute worst case scenario all things considered.

Yeah, continued gray area would be awful IMO. If Bryce looks mid and we win day 7 games... ugh. That feels like purgatory to me.

my thing is that they would have to make some sort of commitment to him either ext or 5th year option.  We basically would tie him to the team for 2 more years.  Thats purgatory
