Hot Takes Immediately After the Game

I'm not sure there's a QB in the league who makes games more unwinnable than Bryce when he plays bad. There's just no way to win a game when Bryce is playing like this.

And I'm not sure there's a QB who's had more of them.

And not just full games. Think how often Bryce just vanishes for the entire half, or three quarters. You can't cannot win football games like this.

Ok...woah...alllllright, let’s slow down.  XL absolutely fuging infuriated me (See my post), but dude, XL is FAR from being Mingo bad.

He’s really not. He was drifting upfield on that first interception that allowed the safety to come up and make a play. Mingo would do the same sh!t.

He truly has no idea what he’s doing out there. Pre snap he’s always looking around confused

My overreactions:

  • Tmac looks like he belongs.
  • XL pressing too much. Looking more like a Cordarelle Patterson than an AJ brown at this point.
  • Renfrow will be the #2 choice as the season progresses. I can't see Bryce/Coaches trusting XL in key moments.
  • Corbett had a terrible game (several bad/early snaps). I wouldn't be sad to see Mays back in the lineup.
  • Bryce pressing too much. Looked fine when he had time. I figured he would have learned to slide by now.
  • Defense improved as the game went on. I'm not expecting miracles.
  • Our LBs are predictably terrible. QB scrambles and TEs are gonna feast all season.
  • Coaching seemed fine. I agree with the 4th down tries. Didn't like the playclock constantly running down though.

- David Moore is a better wr than XL

- Bryce Young failed us today

- Canales struggles to get his teams prepared

- TMac is going to be a franchise great if we can keep him

- Our LBs (re: Rozeboom) are going to get roasted all year and it’ll be the Achilles heel to hand Evero a pink slip

Legette would be better if we had a qb not afraid to unload...not his fault...

No he wouldn't. He struggles to do the most simple poo any NFL WR should know. In Game 1, TMac was far more impressive than the entirety of XL's NFL career.

It's because XL doesn't do anything well at all. Well, not on the football field, for sure.

It pains me to say this but Morgan might need to go if some of these rookies don’t start flashing soon.

look at our 2023 draft class and then our 2024.  How many guys can we say are reliable starters? I didn’t love Scourton, Princely, or Etienne and felt Etienne was a reach. tho by doubling down pass rushers who fell in the draft I’m hopeful one pans out.

But even great coaches need talent… and we don’t have much on either side of the ball right now.

- This is the only game I will give Bryce a pass on. I still want to believe in him and a lot of teams opening week dont look good. But he made mistakes that impacted the game directly. Intereception turned into 7, fumbled ball missed on a field goal opportunity, underthrown ball to Renfrow was a easy 7 but had to settle for FG. 4 and Goal throw away??? What was that..

- I dont care what anyone says at this point, Wallace is not the answer at LB and Rozeboom is an unathetlic depth ILB at best.

- Moehrig had a lot of tackles, but I saw him out of position a lot and missed tackles in key spots. Not a good first impression for me

- Chubba is are best and most consistent player, again. He deserved his money

- McMillan is a #1

- We cant stop the run

- We have ZERO pass rush

- Evero needs to go!!

- Legette is still incredibly raw..

How about they just suck at football

Dam, brother besides adding some UDFA kicker love, we have the same thoughts.

DJ Wonnum is the best OLB/pass rusher....hell he maybe on the same level as horn and dbrown if you took away names.

The only way is to run the ball 90% and 9% screen plays. Then the defense needs to get at least 3 TOs and hold the team below 11 points for the game.

You remember that wenike game against the falcons, wildcat for the wins, lols...

    • We’re past the talk and hypotheticals with Bryce. If he needs a perfect game from his receivers to not put up a stinker he’s not franchise starter material.
    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
