Between Canales and Morgan, who do you keep and trust moving forward

Time to jettison both of them. If you think Bryce was the only person we fielded yesterday who wasn't coached up or capable of being on a professional football field, then you are missing something. Outside of Chuba Hubbard and Jaycee Horn, no one looked like they had done their homework, knew their assignments or had even shown up for training camp.

That's on the entire coaching staff along with the poor play calling and clock management issues.

We have poorly chosen and recruited players, then we poorly coach them up and poorly motivate them. We do pay them fairly well, but that, it is beginning to seem more and more likely, is because well, we have to.

Not sure if I can sit through another season of this crap. It would take something miraculous.

Fire both.

Hell, we fugged up by not cleaning house the first time around. It's been moving pieces ever since Tepper took over. We haven't been able to have a full rebuild because we always do a half ass rebuild where people from the previous regime hang around. Fire EVERY fuggin body, down to the scouts and conditioning team.

At this point how can you trust either one? Canales is a Carroll clone who seems to let players police themselves and is basically Pete without the gum and talent.

Dan is respected around the League, I thought he would be a good hire. I don’t know whether to blame Dan or Dave or both. I know one thing, Tepper is the only constant and his era as owner of this team is freaking terrible.

After yesterday I think it's indisputable that Canales is part of the problem- how much of the problem is hard to tease out.

Ultimately in my heart of hearts I just feel like Canales + Bryce is not a potent enough duo to succeed in this league. Canales + Josh allen? That might work. Or Kyle Shannahan + Bryce? yea that might be ok. But together they are underwhelming.

I'm holding judgement on Morgan for the time being. He had a LOT of damage to undo when he got here and thus far has done ok, though I will admit the XL pick looking worse and worse by the day particularly when Ladd was sitting right there

But again as I stated in the other thread, other than JJ Jansen, the only constant since Tepper bought the team has been Tepper himself. We have an ownership problem. Almost every single one of this team's issues can be traced back to David Tepper.

I get the moves that Morgan has made.  He inherited a team that would not win the NCAA Championship.

Canales?  Too soon, if you ask me, but I was questioning his ability to prepare and lead the teaching of fundamentals when I see XL not blocking, not dragging his feet--his center firing high heat to a 5'9" QB all day--a QB throwing it away on fourth and goal--and then there is the preseason question--his decision to rest his seasoned starters ????

1. Keep both Canales and Morgan - are these two tied to the hip? Have you see enough in other parts of the team to trust these two drafting/developing not just a new qb, but the rest of the positions on the team? Do we just dump all the Bryce blame on Tepper and hope for the best?

Option 1 seems the most likely to me. Canales inherited Bryce and will likely get a chance to show what he can do with a hand picked QB. I also think this team really needs less turnover at GM and coaching.

Couple of things. Obviously id like to reset with a new QB.

That said, keep both because of perception plus I don't think Canales is that bad if he has his players and can run what he wants. "That's a big if"

The scouting consensus with the scouts and front office will be the same no matter what happens between now and the draft. Hard to completely reset a full scouting department that fast.

Also don't trust Tepper and his wife to make a solid decision if it smack them in the face and bit them on the ass.

Dan Morgan had a hand in hiring Canales, a coach who famously did not have another request for interview from any other team. He’s been around in some capacity for every terrible decision this team has made over the last four years or so. He is the closest thing there is to an architect for this team. Dan has been around the league with connections in Seattle and Buffalo, and is well respected as a former player

canales was brought on to fix Bryce and has failed. He has created a very soft team and his act is wearing thin. For the second year in a row this team did not look ready to play week 1. Was replaced without an issue in Tampa, and THAT coach kicked his ass yesterday. Hired when he was because tepper probably realized because of the state of the team they were gonna have to hire someone too soon and hope they nailed it. Canales really only has connections to the Pete Carroll tree and honestly probably hasn’t worked long enough to build a huge Rolodex. Part of the reason I suspect Evero is forced to stay.

changed have to be made following this season. Assuming Bryce is jettisoned (he won’t tolerate being benched and will probably be cut or traded), which option is the best moving forward?

1. Keep both Canales and Morgan - are these two tied to the hip? Have you see enough in other parts of the team to trust these two drafting/developing not just a new qb, but the rest of the positions on the team? Do we just dump all the Bryce blame on Tepper and hope for the best?

2. Fire both Canales and Morgan - get a whole new team in here to reset the table. Hire a GM after the trade deadline, fire Morgan, let the new guy evaluate, then send Canales packing the second the opportunity arises. Could Tepper tolerate bringing in a serious GM who’d be able to pick his own coaches and players without his input? Perhaps even a coach who isn’t a youth pastor or a MLM dude? Has David been cucked that hard?

3. Fire Morgan, keep Canales - now we’re talking. This team is an untalented mess, and I am worried Morgan doesn’t have an eye for nfl talent. They’re small and slow at every position. XL probably needs to be put out to pasture. Someone has to pay for this. If you think Canales is a good enough coach to survive this, he just doesn’t have the pieces, then this is how you go. Canales would likely be involved in the next GM, and it’d probably be some low level guy from the Bucs. Well call this the marty hurney option.

4. keep Morgan, fire Canales - who can evaluate these players with this coaching amiright? Not Morgan’s fault Canales can’t teach XL to play. No one is gonna develop with Bryce out there at qb, and that was supposed to be Canales job. This team would get out effort’d by the 2003 panthers….if they brought those guys out of retirement today. Do you trust Dan Morgan to hire another coach and manage another draft class? We’ll call this the Marty hurney option.

For me, I think the best option is number 2. Get someone new in here for the second half of the season, let them get a lay of the land and start building their vision, then hit the ground running after week 18.

what I don’t want is some Chicago bears scenario where a lame duck coach gets an extra year and a chance with a high pick qb, then gets fired and a new coach comes in to fix the qb, all the while a middling GM survives because of office politics. We’ve already seen how bringing in a coach to fix damaged goods has gone; it’s bad.

Whatever we do, the GM, Head coach, and maybe qb need to be on the same page. We’ve got to stop this back and forth between the front office and coaching staff and personnel

in all these scenarios evero retains his job, somehow.

I got to wonder what makes folks have so much invested in this team that they think and write up stuff like this.

Youre a superfan my man and  good on you but my days of pondering this travelingshitshow this hard are long past.  Life is too damn short.
