Is Tepper going to clean the house again after this season?

I think it would have to go true dumpster fire for us to clean house.  Week One was pretty alarming.  All the talk of how different and improved the team was only to come out and look like utter garbage is not going to win anyone over.

I like that there's synergy between HC and GM, but there also has to be results.  We're not seeing the results.  The NFL is a result oriented business.

Now, if the team plays a lot better in the coming weeks, great.  But let's see it first.  I think that Canales should start to see the hand moving towards the seat heater clearly.

I think if everything continues to be mostly the fault of the Coach + surrounding talent (Offense and Defense) and not on Bryce; you got to clean house.

I only think Tepper will do it if we are like 1-13 going into our bye week though.

Hey, hands up. Not defending Canales or how he coached Sunday. If he gets fired this year, whatever. I just remember how the offense looked before Daltons body forgot how to play football.

I think it's only a matter of time before it all comes crashing down, again. The joyous coach routine is only going to go so far when your losing. Pep talks and encouragement doesn't make them a better team. Coaching may only be 10 to 20% of the success of a team but it is of major importance to get that right. Tepper has created a serious problem for the future of this team.

The thing with cleaning house… who the hell wants to actually work for Tepper?! What good coach with options would take that gig? There are literally 31  better teams to work for…. This is the WORST place for a coach to work… and it’s not even close. Auto-firing staff after 1-2 years will only make things worse.

If candidates know they are going to be auto-fired when being dumped in to an impossible situation, then why even apply?

Tepp has to show candidates that he’s calmed the f down. The best thing is for him to not make any major franchise decisions for a while.

Just imagine where we would be right now with Wilks, Darnold, Foreman, Luvu, Moore,  the king’s ransom they were offered for Burns and the picks they traded away for Young… tell me with a straight face that blowing all of that up was the right move compared to where we are today. Wilks and Darnold were bridges to a better place.

My point being, EVERY major franchise decision from Tepp has been a disaster. He blows everything up, even if it shows signs of potential. He has refused to hire a ‘my way or no way’ type coach with proven NFL success.  I promise you he doesn’t have a friend in the entire building.

besides changing out Evero who has been given years to make it work, this is the best case scenario for the foreseeable future until the next draft. I don’t think Canales is the right coach for the job, but tying him to Young isn’t fair. He deserves at least another season with his own guy that he chooses.

I posted this under another top (Morgan's drafts), but it applies here.

I don't know if the problem is our scouting department, the front office, or both. What has become apparent is that our team is terrible at drafting. Every round we seem pass on players who could fill hole in our roster in favor of players who contribute NOTHING on the field and are often out of the league before their first contract expires.

Are the scouts providing good intel but being ignored? Are they giving bad intel and the FO is going on their recommendation? Tepper needs to hire a consultant who is knowledgeable of the game and have him do a top to bottom examination of our personnel department and find out why are arguable the worst drafting team in the NFL. Why do we pass on players who excel in the league for garbage players who probably couldn't even make most rosters in the NFL as backups.

and for those that say we fleeced Vikings on that Theilen trade are so excited to get late round picks as if we have ever drafted worth a fug.

The counter to this is there are only 32 Head Coach slots available in general, and a tiny number of those ever becoming available in a given season. Anybody with a career goal of being a HC (or being a HC again) has limited options.

Why work for Tepper, even knowing you may get canned if he's unhappy? $5-10m/year guaranteed can ease a lot of pain for some people.

You offer a sh*t ton of money and let them use the top 3 pick we will have to choose a new QB. There is only 32 HC jobs, someone will take the job. Even if the new hire is bad, we will just suck like we already do.

This is why I wasn't overly disappointed when we didn't trade Burns for two #1 picks. Based on who we have drafted in the first round since 2020 I don't see how anyone would think we would have used those choices to pick any exceptional players that would have made the team immediately better. And, we still haven't found an edge rusher to replace Burns.

The proper question is, what good coach with any other options would take the job? Money does not solve the problem. There's no quick fix for this despite what fans think of the players. The problems go much deeper with this organization.
