Not on Bryce

Pretty much what I said yesterday, this team fielded one of the worst rosters in franchise history Sunday and they expect Bryce (who is not that type of QB) to somehow carry them. The pass protection is horrible, the receivers are horrible and the running game was non existent. Everyone wants us to throw deep when our fastest WR yesterday runs a 4.6. For the third season in a row we have the slowest WR core in the league this team refuses to draft speed on offense.

And I agree Canales and Bryce really don’t fit from a scheme perspective, Bryce needs a Sean Payton or Mike Mcdaniels type, Canales wants a gun slinger, they need to find the happy medium.

He also says Bryce is a game manager, not a game changer

been watching his podcast as long as he has had one

what isnt said, and should be,  we all understand his limitations limit the playbook

dart looks a million times better in his first career stsrt than bryce has in his career and its not like the giants are world beaters

the panthers made a major error in his evaluation  it is time yo move on

We get it. It's only on Bryce when it goes well.

So which NFL QB wouldn't everyone take over Bryce at this point? Which staff would help him with alm we know? There is no one that runs the scheme Bryce requires to function well because those are all in school. There is no one that can overcome his limitations in that scheme regularly in the NFL. But it's never on Bryce...

I am so tired of having a QB that has to be carried constantly or play a team that's asleep.

No disrespect to you, but this is exactly the point.  Then maybe you don’t trade up and draft this guy #1 and then give him three years to further run your franchise into the ground simply because you have an affinity for him as a person?  You don’t draft QBs that need to be “carried” by their team in the first round, and you definitely don’t draft them #1 overall.  And you definitely should cut your losses when you realize that’s what they are.

and slow or not, Bryce has missed or poorly placed countless deep throws this year when the receiver beat their coverage.  He did it again Sunday.  You don’t have to be a burner to get open downfield.  But again, all this pressure is placed on everyone else to be flawless because their QB is ass.  What’s easier?   Having a horrible QB and acquiring 10 above average players to surround him with?  Or finding even an above average QB who can make the 10 guys around him, most of whom might be average, better than they actually are?  That’s why I’ve never understood this strategy the team took by drafting him in the first place.  The amount of resources and assets it takes to accommodate him is unreal.

Posted this before but for 2025 our salary cap spending on the offense versus the defense is comically lopsided. We have invested a great deal just to try and make this kid look even mediocre and he can't do it.

What I saw in Sunday was a team that has given up.  No, it’s not all on Bryce but his play does not inspire confidence from his teammates.  After watching Horns interview I feel like it is pretty obvious, plus when Andy came in the offense seemed to fly around and no I am absolutely NOT saying Andy should start.  At this point let Bryce sink himself, trade value is zero anyway.

Kyle Bailey and cohost said yesterday that they absolutely would pick up the 5th citing drew brees and sam darnold as examples but they would bring in a vet to compete.

Wtf are people watching?  Is this all a giant suck up to tepper.  People can point to darnold and brees but they overlook the vast wasteland of poo qbs that never worked out, mac jones, kenny pickett, zach wilson the list is endless.  Keeping bryce and hoping he turns into a top 10 qb is akin to winning the powerball, the odds are overwhelmingly against you.

and anyone using sam fuging darnold as an example of why we should keep bryce needs to have their head examined.  The dude has been the same player his entire fuging career.  Shows talent then mentally implodes at the faintest sign of pressure

He should be cut today. The idea of giving him two more years is bonkers. He's never shown anything.

I literally stopped on the second play after watching the entire Pats secondary just run underneath all of the receivers BECAUSE THEY  ARE DARING HIM TO fuging THROW OVER THE TOP AND HE CANT.🤣😂😂😂

and this douchenozzle says, “and so yeah, you can see right there the panthers want to keep it short and sweet” to excuse it.  No, dickhead, we don’t,  we don’t have a fuging choice.

There's like... two defenders over top and another four intermediate. They're covering deep.

If folks want to call out Bryce for playing poorly, the two plays that have stuck out the most so far that I've seen from the all-22 were the throw that was behind TMac and the one that he tried forcing into three Pats defenders that was almost picked. Those were both bad for different reasons, both of which were issues prior to his benching and of major concern seeing them already in year 3. Will be covering both of those when I get home and able to get the videos.

Who is the open receiver over the top? I see two deep DBs (looked like the call was cover-3). Maybe rip the seam and hit Renfrow here, but then some folks would be calling it a hospital ball.

and the overthrow to renfrow and the 2 throws into the dirt one on 4rth down.  There is a laundry list of poo throws from Sunday

    • Part of me thinks that there’s not just a panthers issue with developing quarterbacks, it’s a league issue because all the top quarterbacks are from a whole different generation now when it comes to NFL life. College talent in general has been wonky since Covid and all the super seniors. Disconnect somewhere
    • Yep I mean that’s what it comes down to. Analyzing this in a play-by-play manner doesn’t help (although I’ll still respect those who want to dig into that mess) When you have someone who inhibits the plays you can deploy, the concepts you can scheme in, it’s such a limiting factor and you won’t rise out of it until you try another guy at the spot.  He limits the entire system down to physical, unchangeable traits… we are restricted in what we can run, and he can’t even run the limited playbook effectively. So that’s why I stopped bothering with play-by-play looks. It’s clear it’s the bigger infrastructural issue.
    • Having a guy like that is desirable sure. But we will have to settle for competent until we stumble onto a guy like that.
