Save Shedeur

..... But throughout preseason and training camp, Dillon Gabriel did not look like a backup NFL QB, let alone a starter, and yet, Cleveland kept him above Shedeur on the depth chart.  Shedeur outperformed every QB on their roster by almost every measure and still sits 3rd in their depth chart.  Then today, they announce they have benched Joe Flacco, will start Gabriel, and leave Shedeur as the 3rd stringer.

And what should that tell you? He is terrible and not ready. The list of QBs I would not welcome to Carolina is so small but Shedeur is one of them.

Never seen this kind of clamoring for a 5th round QB with main character syndrome. You see his locker room interview where he just…pantomimes words silently?

Bryce is ass, but this is poverty franchise logic

I know, we’ve talked about it already, but that was mostly before the start of the season, before Bryce came out and Bryce’d it up.  I get it.  The NFL as a collective doesn’t like guys like Deion and Shedeur.  They don’t like self-assured, confident young…  errr… men.  And okay, we get it.  They sent a message by dropping Shedeur to the 5th.

It isn’t unprecedented.  Again, the Cowboys traded for Joe Milton after one season as a late round pick from the previous draft.  Considering the incompatibility of the fit for Shedeur and Cleveland and our, what should now be obvious to any and everyone involved, desperate need to add talent at the QB position…  why not do both sides a solid?

Never ever go after what the Browns wanted or took. Did we not learn anything from the Deshaun Watson affair?

And yes, Baker Mayfield... didn't work out here.

And Derek Brown... rode the pine like a king, worked a tiny bit of magic.

Sanders is still sitting on the bench in QB Hell because there's a reason that a coach on the hotseat and a front office that is in shambles and a fanbase that is (once again) up in arms... And what that reason is, we aren't really sure of.

Let's not frikkin' find out.

We have our own set of problems and taking one off the Browns' hands isn't going to help us at all.

At this  point,  we need to turn every stone possible. Being his compensation  probably  wouldn't be much, it's not hurting to trade a late pick for a possible answer. If he flames, he was nothing more than a late rd pick. I'd rather try this and use our  other high picks to continue to build the roster.

Here’s him acting like a dumbass today because he thinks everything should be handed to him and don’t have the emotional intelligence to digest why Dillon Gabriel is starting and not him.

The Ravens wanted to draft him and he would be starting this week since Lamar is hurt, but he didn’t want to be a back up. Now he’s a 3rd string QB on team as bad as us.

I'm not sure why people are surprised. The football people in Cleveland picked Gabriel over Sanders because they thought he was the better prospect for them. They looked like they wanted to crawl under a table as the Sanders pick was being announced because that pick probably wasn't made by them.

And that right there is why he was plummeting down draft boards. If you're evaluated as not likely to be a starter and probably a career backup this is exactly what you DON'T want out of that backup QB role.

The near unanimous word out of teams that interviewed him was that he came off as incredibly cocky and entitled and wasn't at all prepared for the interview. This kid really needs to stop sabotaging himself. I thought falling into the late 5th might be a wake up call but doesn't look like it.

This is one of the most bizarre things I think I’ve ever seen in a locker room. Wtf?

Can’t wait much longer if they are going to do something like this.

Cam even mentioned how difficult it is to come in and learn a full offense in a couple weeks and that’s coming from an MVP QB, not a rookie.

Shedeur would realistically need a month to grasp our sets and language before throwing him out there and by then we are half way through the season.

Unless the FO truly believes that Shedeur can be a starting QB in the league to the point that they’d pass on a first round QB in next years draft then there’s really no reason to send draft capital for a QB who wouldn’t fully have command of our offense until the following year and by then he’d more than likely be competing with a first round QB.

It just screams wasting assets for an attempted quick fix.

Best option is to trade Bryce to Vegas, ride out the suck with Dalton, and try again next year.

But our FO seems hell bent on milking any and every value a player has before trading them for scraps (except Thielen).

If I'm the coach I'm going ape poo right now. I'm ready to stomp into the owners office like "Are you happy now? Was the publicity worth it? This kid is putting me in a spot where I HAVE to cut him if I'm going to maintain any respect on the locker room. At the very least he's getting suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. That's the least I can get away with."
