REPORT: Rico Dowdle is rumored to be open for trade by the Panthers

I'm not defending DCs handling of the RB situation. Nor am I defending Chuba's contract, but this notion that Chuba is garbage is really strange. "All RBs need to get into a rhythm...except Chuba Hubbard. If he doesn't do much with his 6 carries he's extremely pure ass cheeks!"

Chuba definitely isn’t "garbage". I also don't think it's fair to label him a JAG if he is indeed not 100%. Then again if he isn't why was he playing at all already if we have Dowdle and Etienne who are capable? Although it is fair to ponder in terms of Chuba's production the last two seasons what his normal is because we have the highest paid OL in the entire league currently and that's only going to increase when we extend Icky.

I felt Rico was a better, more powerful runner with burst more than Chubba even before he got those starts and he has proven he is.  If the Panthers were to trade a RB the better move would be to trade Chubba and sign Rico to longer term contract so he's not lost in free agency.

No one wants a rb on a contract who’s probably banged up.

everyone wants someone like Rico on a one year deal.

you can just force teams to accept trades. They have to want what you’re selling

Chuba's not bad hes an average back a dime a dozen anybody calling him more than that is vastly over inflating his play

Has anyone said Chuba is garbage? I haven't seen that.

Dude ran for almost 1200 last year and the majority of posters are calling him JAG. Everyone forgets the plug and play, any RB will do, Cameron Artis Payne era where everyone was shrieking for a big signing or high draft pick.

Sure I can agree with that.  What I said was my preference 🙂      Unfortunately, based on what you said... I do think if the Panthers trade a RB it would be Rico because he is probably gone after the season. If they do end up trading him though, it tells me they don't think they're good enough to maybe win the division.. otherwise you run Rico full time.

They aren’t doing a 3rd for a RB rental. A 4th is great value this point in the season.

Yea and I never would have thought any team was trading for Mingo in week 10. And we got a fourth for him. Positional difference granted but Dowdle is world's apart from Mingo in terms of pure and proven skillset. The Patriots, Vikings, Steelers, Chiefs, Chargers could all be possible's.

Normally I’d agree but Rico also had 1000 last year and is fully capable of getting above that this year, the guy is legit.

Ok so did they call him garbage or a jag? I haven't seen either one.

Chuba is a jack of all trades.  He's good enough at everything but he's not particularly remarkable at anything.

Yep. Good rotational RB who put together a career year and leveraged that into a payday. Good for him. The good thing about his contract is it's pretty light on guaranteed money. We're not really tied down by it if we need to get out from under it.

Chubba has done his best since he's gotten here. He has been the definition of keep pounding the entire time. But I would have replaced him before extending him. I am never in favor of having a RB on an extended contract. I would draft one every year or pick up another Rico on a 1 year deal over and over.
