I've watched this highlight several times.  So many people want to criticize Young because he's doesn't throw down the field very much.  However, if you watch this highlight and focus on the ball placement, It's a perfect throw.  He leads Hubbard perfectly.  He hits him in stride.  He's full speed in a moment.

If he throws it too far in front he probably doesn't catch it or loses his balance enough that he gets tackled.   Too far behind and he has to slow down a bit and doesn't get up to speed in time to score.

Bryce pinpoints a perfect throw, and Hubbard blows by everyone and scores.

It was a great play.

Bryce hasn't been so terrible that we have to act like a routine screen pass was some grand achievement.

Where is it I said it was a grand achievement?  I was just pointing out how really good that play was. Too many want to argue every single thing BY does.  It's luck, it's bad defense and every other possible reason other than he did well.

Including Bryce 9/10 times

Yea, Bryce has had his troubles with that throw and being accurate overall. Hes gotten better, but 59.8%, 60.8%, and 63.1% completion percentages. He’s improved, but he definitely has had his trouble with that throw and ball placement.

I don’t understand the perfect passer rating being achieved when you don’t complete 100% of your attempts.
Redefining perfect now? It’s more 20 yard deep ball big time throws and GWD.
They all sound great.
FTR he played really well except don’t forget the 2 likely game altering sacks that took us out of FG range in a 3 or 4 point margin game. I guess passer rating doesn’t apply if you eat the ball. So no dings.
But no joke, 80% is completely excellent - but it isn’t perfect.

The Saints game is what really concerned me. We were playing a 1-8 at home and they were starting a rookie QB. Bryce played one of the worst games I've seen him play. Those type of performances (and the one in SF last Monday) are why most of us are not on board with extending him, or even picking up the 5th year option.

I don't even want him starting here next year.

That was my point. He had some other nice plays in this game. That screen pass is a play every decent HS QB can make.

Bro you started a thread pumping up a throw to the flats.   How did you think folks would take it?

The thing with Bryce is that he has shown that he can play at a pretty high level.

Josh Allen/Lamar Jackson high? No, but he's had his moments for sure. He just hasn't been able to develop any consistency week-to-week. It's all high highs and low lows.

If we got Falcons/Rams/Cowboys Bryce more than 3 times per year and Packers/49ers/Jets Bryce looked more like Dolphins/Cardinals Bryce we might have something.

A more consistent Bryce Young is actually a pretty damn good QB. He won't ever be Justin Herbert or Patrick Mahomes, but that's a QB we can work with long-term. But this week-to-week whiplash where he looks like a different player every other game is far from ideal.

I look at this the same way I look at my golf game. If I can just go from the occasional birdie to consistently make birdies, I can become a pro. But that will never happen.

And I view Bryce the same way. A lot of QBs can have a good game or two, but doing it consistently is something they will never be able to do.

I think the biggest issue with Young is that when he has a bad game he has a really bad game. There's no middle ground. If he can manage to limit those to 1 or 2 games a season he might has a chance.

You’ll have a day here and there where you do make a couple extra birdies and you hold the rest of it together and get a score out of your norm.

But that isn’t every day or three out of every four days.
