Sure. Their schedule is soft but like us sitting at 5-4 with a pretty soft schedule too, you play who's on the schedule. They absolutely creamed us. I'm sure it wouldn't have been AS ugly if we were riding Rico but that wouldn't have closed at 29 point gap.

They play Tampa this week. That will be tough.

While there are people on this site celebrating Bryce "winning the game" when he threw for 102 yards, 0 TDs, a pick, and an INT?

Maye is a second year player who is top 5 in the league in practically every relevant QB metric this year.

The same reason we celebrated game-winning drives from Jake Delhomme in 2003 with performances like:

  • 96 yards, 2 INTs
  • 181 yards, 1 TD 1 INT
  • 148 yards, 0 TDs

I do not give a crap how we win, I just want to win. And we're winning for the first time in a decade.

The key difference being expectation. Jake was basically an afterthought of a free agent signing. Bryce is a guy we mortgaged the franchise on to be THE GUY. Not to mention a different era of football before all the rule changes to benefit the passing game.

I don't care how we win either. I just realize that the odds of continuing to win in today's NFL with this level of QB play are very low. If I knew for sure that the Panthers had already decided to pursue other options at QB this off-season I could breathe a sigh of relief but of course they're not going to say that publicly.

Including young in a conversation with Maye and Nix is wild

Gotta love the constant gate keeping anytime there is anything the least bit favorable to compare. Y’all gotta understand that comparing specific things is not saying they are comparable across all things.

I don't care how we win either, but I care how a QB plays when it comes to his future with the team.  At this point we don't have any other option so that's what most of us are thinking about if he doesn't improve.

Also... It's extremely disingenuous to act like those numbers are why people loved Jake. After the 181 game and before that 148 yard game he had a 362 yard 2 TD game (in a loss too!) in a very different league.

Had he basically consistently put up numbers like you highlighted we'd never have stuck with him. He had 2 300 yard games in that season and he averaged 200 ypg that year. He was a huge part of some wins and not others... But his shots deep were a big part of keeping the running game going. Different era entirely though.

He is a good coach but that is not a good roster. They have been quite lucky.

I have never seen a player become overrated as quickly as he has.  It's mind-boggling.

As someone who lives in boston and has to deal with those fans, it's absolutely insane lol. Anyone with half a brain could look at their schedule this year and be like "yeah makes sense the QB has good numbers and they have a good record." I don't think I've ever seen a full schedule over the course of a season as easy as theirs this year, and they still barely beat some of those terrible teams. Their opponents are a combined .357 win %, next lowest is the Bills at .431. Our opponents for reference are a combined .500.

2003 was a different time, man. And as mentioned before Jake was never expected to be a franchise QB, bryce was expected to be that and more. Funny enough, Jake's career passer rating is higher than Bryce's despite how favorable the league is to QBs now vs. when Jake played.

Bryce Young hasn't cleared 200 passing yards in a single game in that window.

Meanwhile, Rico Dowdle has put together the greatest 5 game stretch of rushing production in Panthers history.   And RBs have sort of been our thing, so there is ample competition.

This team hasn't been lead by Bryce Young in that stretch. Those wins are simplistically 3 things.  Schedule, Rico, and defense.

I lived in that area for a minute, and 2 decades of BB and Brady made them delusional.  They think everyone is the 2nd coming of Brady and they're just on a short coffee break til the next dynasty.

Drake Maye has been a revelation.

Crazy to think the MVP race includes Drake Maye, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, & Matt Stafford right now.  Allen & Mahomes are always there by default, but those 4 - it's hard to say it doesn't sting.

Maye being a lifelong Panthers fan, (2) ex-Panthers QBs, and one a guy we tried to trade for lol

I will say that Bo Nix has been better than expected but if you watch him play, there is not a gulf between him and Bryce. That's also a fairly pedestrian armed QB.

He just has the big advantages of a far better roster and an overwhelmingly better HC.

Not trying to take away the credit he deserves for arguably being the best QB in that class so far, just saying he pro has the best situation, as well.

Jake Delhomme was also undrafted.
