ESPN's Benjamin Solak on Panthers QB situation

Recommended Posts

Trey Lance is currently the #2 QB for the L.A. Chargers and will be a free agent after this season. He would be as good or better that any available QB as a backup or possible starter..

Lance secured the Chargers backup job behind starter Justin Herbert after beating out Taylor Heinicke during the preseason.

The Chargers decided to keep only two quarterbacks on the final roster, which made Lance the primary backup.

Tell me you don’t watch the Panthers yet have to churn out content.

Bryce not that bad….because Carolina has managed to win a couple really odd ball games where he was largely a spectator?

It really is low IQ people who still equate winning to a QB being good enough. Anyone with eyes can see we are will in spite of Young.

Not taking anyone seriously that leans into Murray being a fix. Mac Jones would be fine in free agency but not in a trade IMO.

I just want to see who is available and what Young does once they tell him mm they aren't picking up his 5th year option. Im still hoping he ask for a trade and we can all close out that chapter of pain.

I read that writer’s take after Bryce was benched last year and he was slamming the team for Bryce’s trouble.
That didn’t age well at all IMO. First he claimed it was over here and proceeded to lambast Tepper. Of course it isn’t Bryce not taking the coaching (footwork, 123 plant throw in 2.7 secs, etc). Never that. Last year and in 2023.

We hash out mo better insight right here than these national writers. But it was interesting to see.

I'll sign two vets ala what the Giants did have a honest assessment and competition ala Indy witn Jones and Richardson and let the best man win.

My picks Howell, Hineke, Brisset, Bridgewater, Mac Jones, Winston

No to Bridgewater. Absolutely not.

The thought of Kyler being successful in Canales offense is hilarious, he’s never takes snap under center for a reason. And Mac Jones is more physically limited than Bryce, he looks good know cause every QB in Shanahan’s offense looks good.

They need to bring in Geno Smith or Jamies a gun slinger who doesn’t give a crap about throwing interception

Pass on Geno... we don't need another QB that only throws checkdowns.

Jameis is the answer - the dude is capable of making throws that the best QBs can make. He just has a Madden awareness rating of 4... At least with Jameis, we can gauge how good our receivers/TEs are and know what we need in those respective parts (like is Coker a legit 3rd receiver, can XL look good with any other QB, etc.). Stidham would be another QB I'm curious about also

I would take a guy like Stetson Bennet or Jarret Stidham over some of the suggested. Others that could be of interest would be Rattler(don’t think a NO trade is out of the cards given their state) and McKee.

Kyler is not happening

Lawrence probably not (but you never know)

Mac Jones will be the popular one I imagine we get tied to.

Hell no to Fields, Lance, Levis, etc

Howell and Henicke would’ve been the types to have here instead of Dalton this season.

Stetson Bennett or Sam Howell. Those would be my choice

He's started 5 games guys...FIVE! Spot duty in another 8.  How in the world can anyone definitely say he sucks?  Just because 49ers fans soured on him and said he sucks after an injury riddled rookie season and being behind the learning curve.

The dude has been in the League 4 years and is 25-years old!  He's Penix age now when Penix was a rookie.  He's been in multiple systems now, healthy and obviously has a better feel for the Pro game than he did as a super-raw rookie.
